Competitive Waves Overview
Short Course (3km)
For the short course there will be waves for more competitive Adults and Juniors (10-17) as well as non competitive runners
Within your wave you will be set off in mini waves of up to 6 people with a 2 minute gap between mini waves. This is to help avoid any queues at obstacles and help the race flow. These mini waves will be made up of athletes from the same age group.
Your age group will be based on your age on 31st Dec 2023 to align with World Obstacle.
Each short course competitive runner will be chip timed so winners will be determined by fastest time, not necessarily first past the post.
Sprint Course (100m)
The sprint course will only be for competitive runners. It will be completed as a time trial with 2 runners on the course at once (1 lane each). Each runner will get two chances to run the course with their fastest time counting.
FISO World Obstacle Championship Team UK Selection
The winning male and female from each age group from the 3km event will be selected automatically to represent Team UK at the FISO OCR World Championships in Belgium in September 2023.
A set number of athletes will also be selected from the 100m event to compete at the FISO OCR World Championships 100m. The final number to be confirmed. This will be on overall finisher position not age group.
Please note: To be selected to represent Team UK winners will be required to be British Obstacle Sports (BOS) members, a British citizen, and sign a team members agreement. More information can be found on membership and selection in our entry fees section below and also on the britishobstacle.org website.

Arrival at the venue
Use the address Wheatrig Farm, Kilmaurs, KA3 2NG.
Race numbers will be given out on the day, please arrive at least 1 hour before your wave time to allow you to collect your number and warm up before you start. Please be on the start 10mins before your start time as we want to make sure you are warmed up and ready to go.
Dress to Impress
Don't forget to look out your Tartan and get your thinking bonnets on, the more Tartan and Scottish themed outfits the better, could we be seeing Nessie in the burn?
We will have a one way system in operation
Please come via the village of Kilmaurs and approach the venue from this side (most routes will naturally bring you through Kilmaurs anyway). Once you drive through the village and are about to exit the 30 mph zone you will see a Tartan Warrior sign post telling you to turn left along Standalane. Drive for three quarters of a mile along that road and you will see the farm road on your left.
Exiting the venue
The farm road is single track so please do not drive back down it otherwise you could cause a traffic jam.
Instead you will be signposted down a different farm road running parallel to the road you came up. At the bottom you will be directed left to take a slightly longer loop back to Kilmaurs. Please do not turn right as you could cause a traffic jam.
We ask all drivers to drive slowly along the nearby country roads as there could be dog walkers, horses or children walking on them
Car Parking/Charity/Key Drop
For car parking we would appreciate a small donation (recommended £3) for our chosen charity (tbc)
We will have designated hard surface car parking available for up to maximum of 80 cars.
With this in mind please car share as much as possible.
The parking will be very close to the start/finish line so you can leave bags in the car.
There won't be a bag drop but there will be a key drop
Facilities
Toilet facilities are available on site in the form of portaloos. There will be no showers available so please bring a towel and change of clothes and be prepared to change at your vehicles. Food and Refreshments will also be available on site.
Race Capacity
We want to be sure we can deliver a quality race for you, that runs as smoothly as possible.
With this in mind will we be limiting entries - if we feel nearer the time that can accomadate more cars and therefore offer more places then we will open these up.
Please book early to avoid missing out
Also whilst we would love to have everyone stay all day, we would ask if possible, that you limit your time at the venue to a maximum of 2.5 hours to help free up parking for people arriving for later waves. This should still give you plenty of time to race and get some food/drink afterwards. Please only arrive 1 hour before your wave start time.
By entering, you agree to the following conditions
-
All participants must wear appropriate clothing and footwear (strictly no football boots or spikes). It is also important to bring a change of clothing and footwear for after the event as you do get wet and muddy. There are no shower facilities.
-
Participants take part at entirely their own risk and the organisers will not be liable for any injury before, during or after the event.
-
Participants under the age of 16 cannot enter without parent/guardian's permission.
-
Entry Fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another race date.
-
There will be a £5 fee for entry transfers to another person.
-
By entering, participants declare that they are physically fit and have sufficiently trained for this event and waive and renounce any rights and claims for damages they may have against Tartan Warrior (trading as OCR Ayrshire Ltd).

-
Adverse weather conditions on the day may cause the race to be rescheduled.
