Organiser's Description

Ayrshire's newest open water sprint distance aquathlon and hosts of this years Scottish National Aquathon Championship  2022 is brought to you by the host of the 2021 Scottish National Aquathon. Ayrodynamics' second year of this event is sure to be a memorable one so early entry is recommended.

Come along and enjoy the swim and run in the stunning location within the Shewalton Woodland Trust environment.  

Chip timing in a safe swim and run environment with safety cover provided by canoe, kayak and paddleboards.

1 counterwise lap, 750m swim around Shewalton pond :- 5km out/back run on paved and forest paths through the Shewalton Woods.

It is proposed to have waves of 50 with wave 1 at 10.00 and subsequent waves with 20 minute gaps.

Swim waves will be in male/female age groups determined by entry size. This will allow for each wave to space out and provide social distancing and ensure a smooth and safe swim start for all leading into T1.

Age Category - Adult (20+), Junior (17 - 19) & Youth (15-16) Must be 15 or older on 31st December 2022

Registration times are as follows:

Wave 1 All female age groups: 8.30am closes: 9.30am - Start time 10.00

Wave 2 All male age groups 8.45am closes at 9.30am - Start time approximately 10.30

 

All facilities and plans are subject to Covid restrictions and British Triathlon guidance.

Facilities: Changing tent, bag drop and mobile toilets available. 

Face coverings must be worn during registration and continue to comply with social distancing rules unless this is revised. Please note we do not offer shower facilities. 

Refreshments will be available. The Ayrodynamic buffet hopes to make a return.

Spectators may be limited however please follow current guidelines. 

Prize giving: We hope to have awards on the day but this will be revised closer to the date. If not possible prizes will be posted.

Please note to be eligible for a Scottish Championship medal you have to be a Core or Ultimate member of Triathlon Scotland.  Please bring your Triathlon Scotland membership with you to registration (if applicable). You can still compete in the event if you are not a member.

Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club reserves the right to curtail/amend or otherwise alter the race routing as local conditions prevail. In the rare case that water conditions require cancellation of the swim section, the event will take place as a run only event.

 

Refunds will be available up to 2 weeks prior to race assuming a waiting list. Thereafter, no refund.

A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for participants who are not a British Triathlon Home Nation member. For this event, Race Pass costs are £6.00 (plus £0.24 service charge) for participants aged 24 and under, and £12.00 (plus £0.48 service charge) otherwise.
