Organiser's Description

Wednesday 18th August 2021,  19:00   Start Time.  This race is again sponsored by four local companies: Brodie Engineering, Pipeline Drillers, Berry B.P.I, and Vanilla Joe's.

Irvine Running Club are pleased to be putting the event on again this year, although with the backdrop of the Covid situation and its continued uncertainty, we are having to plan a " slimmed down" version.  There  will be no prizes awarded this year. Changing or shower facilities are unlikely to be available and no post event refreshments will be provided. You will be advised of any  changes before the race and all participants will be asked to adhere to any Covid protocols that will be in place.

Pre-Entry by 12th August 2021 with a limit of 170 competitors, although this may increase to 220  if the Covid rules are relaxed - please enter asap to avoid disappointment and please note that the race limit was reached the last time the event was run. A Waiting List will be used should the numbers justify it. This year Entry Central will be posting out the bib  numbers so please be especially careful to give your address accurately. This event is pre-entry only and there will be no entries on the day of the race. The race is an SA licensed event conducted under UKA Rules.

CHIP-PIN TIMING by "What's My Time?" WILL BE USED

It is likely that runners will be set off in waves, numbers  to be determined nearer the race.  " What's My Time " will hopefully have some experience of this by the time of the race. Please show respect for your fellow runners by being realistic about your expected time and picking the appropriate wave for your ability.

Your time and position will as usual be provided by " What's My Time "

The Route -

The race is held on paths and roads, in the Beachpark/Harbour area of Irvine starting at Vanilla Joe's and finishing on the harbourside. The course is relatively flat and suitable for runners of all abilities. The course has been measured by a SAL approved measurer. Please arrive in sufficient time to get chips fitted and to get to the start of the race, which is approx 10mins walk from the chip uplift area at Irvine Sports Club.

Each runner will receive a race momento on completion of the race AND Vanilla Joe's  are offering each race participant a post race ice cream - just show your bib number!

A UK ATHLETICS RULE STATES THAT FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS, HEADPHONES MUST NOT BE WORN DURING THE RACE. ANY RUNNER IGNORING THIS RISKS DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE RACE.

PARKING :

There is car parking available at Irvine Sports Club where you pick up your chip. We also have an agreement with the Scottish Maritime Museum, which is near the start/finish, to use both their parking and toilet facilities; this will be available from about 18:20.

All competitors must be at least 15 years old on the day of the race.

If making a block booking on behalf of other runners you must supply details for each runner and not enter them all under one name or club.
