KIRKCALDY PARKS RUNNING FESTIVAL 2026 ๐
2-PERSON RELAY - 30th August ๐๐ปโ๏ธ๐๐ปโ๏ธ
TIME TO LACE UP AND JOIN IN THE FUN!!!
New for 2026 is our 2-person relay, come and join us for Fife’s only half marathon route, if you're not running the whole distance, now you can do half the half!
Leg 1 - Tap o' the Toun - approx. 6.2 miles and 151 ft ascent
Leg 2 - Lang Toun Return - approx 6.9 miles and 102 ft ascent
Set in the historical town of Kirkcaldy, affectionately known as the ‘Lang Toun’, made famous by Michael Nairn producing linoleum and also the birthplace of Adam Smith, social philosopher and economist. This 3 parks half marathon route takes in some of the town’s famous landmarks including Beveridge Park, Dunnikier Park, Ravenscraig Park, beautiful coastal path with stunning sea views and historical Dysart.
The final few miles also take in the newly refurbished Waterfront where there is a flat measured mile used for the local running clubs and walkers to enjoy.
Also included in the route are free hills; fast flats and downhills for that elusive PB search……
The race is run under UK Athletics Rules and is a Scottish Athletics permit event, therefore minimum age on the day is 16 as per maximum road race distances for young athletes.
You will need an Entry Central account to sign up your 2-person team.
Start
The race starts at 10am within Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy for Leg 1 runners on Sunday 30th August. There will be no parking available at the park, however there are car parks and bus and train links nearby, so please leave plenty of time to arrive for the race start. Leg 2 runners will start from Dunnikier Park, at the Relay Changeover Point which will be marshalled, and near the half marathon water station. We have requested use of the NHS Whytemans Brae Overflow Carpark. More information on parking will be confirmed in the final email. Leg 1 runners will make their own way back to Beveridge Park for finish line celebrations!
There will be something for all the family so even if you’re not running, we hope you’ll spend the afternoon in our Event Village in the park, enjoying the attractions, grabbing a bite to eat and cheering for your runners as they cross the finish line. Lookout for the fabulously popular kids Fun Run too!
Entries
Entry opens on Saturday 28th February at 7pm.
Transfers
Transfer of race entry to another person should be agreed by the runners and details changed using the original sign up. Transfers are available up to the closing date, but it is not possible to alter t-shirt options, depending on the date of the transfer (note: last date for T shirt changes is 21st July). Please follow our Facebook page for up to date news.
Runners arrange payment for person transfers between themselves; this is not a function of KPRF or Entry Central due to banking privacy laws. We hope you understand.
Unfortunately, neither refunds nor deferrals are available. Relay places are limited for logistical reasons. We can not offer a transfer from the Half Marathon or any other races.
Registration
Information on collection of race numbers will be updated on our webpage, via social media and by email in the lead up to the event.
Health and Safety
A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) has been applied for as the race will be run on a number of closed roads managed by Traffic Management specialists and volunteer marshals.
Safety of the runners and the public is paramount as the race is also run on open roads, runners must adhere to marshal instructions at all times and run on footpaths when necessary. Runners need to be aware of their surroundings therefore only bone conducting headphones may be worn as per UKA Rule 240 S5, however this is at your own risk and if an incident occurs as a result of, or made worse by, the wearing of these headphones you may be held liable.
There will be a time limit of 3 hours for the race (approx 13 minutes 45 seconds per mile). The expectation is relay pairs should be confident they can complete both legs within the 3 hour timeframe. Any runner who takes longer than this, does so at their own risk, as any organised road closures will no longer be in place.
As you should know, we are a non-profit organisation and one of our key aims is to make the running festival as inclusive as possible. This relates to a lot of aspects of course but financial inclusivity is one of them. Our key sponsors wholeheartedly agree on this, and their generous contributions help to cover as much of the costs as possible, keeping the entry fee as low as we can.

Important Note:
This year our charity partner, Maggie’s Fife, will be celebrating a milestone birthday! Opening in November 2006, they have been here delivering cancer support for people with cancer and their friends and family in our local community for 20 years. On average, it costs £2,400 per day to run this incredible service and we hope to help by raising funds and awareness to support the vital work that they do. You can use your entry to run for Maggie's; fundraising and helping them to be here for us all for the next 20 ๐งก
This festival year let's get 20 runners fundraising for Maggie's 20th birthday!! If this is something you'd like to be part of you can do so by setting up your Just Giving page.
Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SC051403)
