Ceres 8 Virtual Road Race
15th and 16th August 2019
Under SAL/UKA Rules
Start Time: Anytime between midnight Friday 14th and 8pm Sunday 16th August
Age Restrictions: Runners must be 16 or older on the day of running.
The Ceres 8 is held on a scenic, undulating circular course on quiet country roads. It is a single lap course and this year it is to be run in an anti-clockwise direction. There is a short out and back section near the end of the seventh mile. A map of the course can be found here. There will be a Temporary Traffic Restriction Order (TTRO) in place that should ensure a traffic free environment. The Ceres 8 is run under UK Athletics rules and has a Scottish Athletics licence. It has an AUKCM course certificate ensuring that the distance is an accurately measured eight miles. A water station will be at the approximate half way point (New Gilston turn).
This year the Ceres 8 Race is attempting to go green in an effort to inspire other races to do the same. We've a way to go, but we hope it's a start. Bear with us - things will be different! We're saying NO to plastic tat. Medals, numbers and prizes will be environmentally friendly, water will be provided in paper cups, both during and after the race. Containers will be available at the village hall for reusing race numbers, safety pins and recycling after race drinks/food receptacles etc. Please do your bit to help keep our race green. Bring your own cup for after race teas/coffees, and car share, or cycle to Ceres! If you have any other green ideas for our race, we'd be delighted to hear them.
Registration is at Ceres Memorial Hall from 5:30pm. The start and finish areas are both approximately 200m from the hall. Please note that there are no showering facilities at the hall. After the race all runners will be provided with light refreshments.
Parking: At the car park opposite the village green and the car park behind the Spar shop. Very limited parking elsewhere in the village. Please be considerate when parking in the village.
Prize giving: All finishing athletes will be presented with a medal. Once results have been compiled and verified, prizes will be presented inside Ceres Memorial Hall within an hour of the first person crossing the finish line.
There will be prizes for the 1st 3 men and women overall and 1st and 2nd in U20, O40, O50, O60, O70 categories and 1st male and female team (3 to count).
Entry Transfer Policy: All entries are non-refundable. However, there is a free transfer service as long as there is no evidence of selling the entry on at an increased fee. With permission of the Entry Organiser you can transfer your place to a friend/relative/teammate etc, but you must handle any reimbursement of funds directly with that person. The Entry Organiser will swap the entry details as long as they are notified before the day of the event. Changes cannot be made on the day of the race.
