Organiser's Description
Jim Young Marymass 10k Event Information
Wednesday 19th August 2026, Start Time 19:00
This race is organised by Irvine Running Club and again sponsored by several local companies: Brodie Engineering, Vanilla Joe’s, Specsavers and SimpsInns. A huge thankyou to them and also to the Scottish Maritime Museum for hosting registration.
We are excited to reveal a new officially measured 10k route, held under UK Athletics rules and is a Scottish Athletics Licensed Event (No.ES015143). The race will also encompass the Ayrshire Harriers 10k Championship.
ENTRIES
Entries close on 12th August 2026 with a limit of 450 competitors.
Entry fee £17.00 or £20.00 for non-members of Scottish Athletics. The event is pre-entry only with no entries on the day of the race. Please enter early to avoid disappointment, and note that the race limit was reached last year.
Please note that entries are non-refundable, non-transferable, and non-deferable. Entrants should be aged 15 and over on the day.
For many reasons, but essentially for medical and other emergencies, we cannot allow individuals to participate under someone else’s number. Members of Scottish Athletics qualify for the reduced rate by providing their 6-digit SA number e.g. SA123456, but not members of Jog Scotland whose membership number begins with JS.
Headphones must not be worn during the race. Runners who ignore this risk disqualification from the race.
The course is unsuitable for wheelchairs.
Running with buggies or pets is not permitted.
ROUTE
The route is entirely on tarmac or paths, apart from the last 70m being on grass.
The race starts on Montgomery Lane, Irvine (55.611243, -4.675787) and finishes at the beach park near the old Magnum car park (55.606299, -4.682906). The route follows the cycle path to the turning point near the Three Stanes Roundabout, before returning along Marine drive, and back onto the cycle path, finishing at the beach park, near the old Magnum car park.
A water station will be available mid-race and there will also be water at the finish.
REGISTRATION
Chip-pin timing by ‘What’s My Time’ will be used. You should pick up your bib number and timing chip from the Linthouse Building, Scottish Maritime Museum, Harbour Road, Irvine KA12 8BT, between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. Please arrive in plenty of time to collect your number and chip. Remember to bring a note of your bib number, or have it on your phone. You must pick up your own number and chip.
