East Lothian Triathlon Festival 2026 (Kids / Youth Aquathlon Races)
The East Lothian Triathlon Festival 2026 will be held on Sunday 30th August at 8am.
As part of the wider festival and the success of our North Berwick race, we are adding an Aquathlon races for ages 8 to 19 years old.
Athletes who are 16+ are already able to enter the main races in our festival which can be found here: https://www.entrycentral.com/ELTF2026
Aquathlon Kids (Tristars) & Youth : £20
Please note, individuals who are not annual members of a British Triathlon Home Nation must purchase a Race Pass to take part in a British Triathlon Home Nation permitted event. A Race Pass provides membership to the sport on the day of the event, a race licence and public liability insurance cover for the duration of the race.
A Race Pass costs £2 for participants aged under 24 and £8 for those aged 24 years and above.
The above costs are automatically added at checkout if you are not a British Triathlon Home Nation member.
Event location: Aubigny Swimming pool & Race Hub / Registration is at Neilson park.
Registration on the day: Event registration will be from 07:15 at Neilson Park. Please arrive in good time to collect your race number, timing device and to organise your kit at Transition.
Race briefing is mandatory for all participants and will be in the sports centre hall at 8:00am which is next to the pool. With Race start anticipated at around 8:15am. These times are a guide only, updated times will be emailed with the race briefing document, which is sent once entries close, the week before the race.
AQUATHLON DESCRIPTION
The swim will be in the Aubigny leisure centre pool and will be a ladder format. Swimmers will be set off at 15 second intervals
Transition will be in a sectioned off area in Neilson Park (across the road). You will follow a red carpet from pool to transition with marshals along the full route.
The run will be loops of the playing fields which are also in Neilson park, next to transition & the finish line. The route is on on grass.
Distances are as follow by age:
TriStar Starts (Age 8) 50m swim (2 lengths), run 500m (1 Laps of Pitches)
TriStar 1 (Age 9-10) 150m swim (6 lengths), run 1.5km (3 Laps of Pitches)
TriStar 2 (Age 11-12) 200m swim (8 lengths), run 2km (4 Laps of Pitches)
TriStar 3 (Age 13-14) 400m swim (16 lengths Incl. Aussie exit), run 3.0km (6 Laps of Pitches)
Youth /Junior (Age 15-19) 400m swim (16 lengths Incl. Aussie exit), run 5.0km
Please note: Under the British Triathlon Federation rules, your age category is determined by the age you will be on December 31st in the year of competition.
Other details....
You are expected to have timed your swim beforehand and will be asked to enter this on the entry form. We will remind you before the event to review and update your swim time in EntryCentral. An accurate swim time will mean that you and those around you are swimming at the same pace. This ensures a pleasant swim for everyone.
Transition area: This area is for participants only. Please ensure that you have your kit ready & setup in Transition before your briefing starts. Once the event starts you will only be allowed into the transition area while you are participating. To ensure everyone's safety you we control access to collect possession based on live timings. There may be a small delay, please follow Event Marshall instructions.
Insurance: Event insurance is provided by Triathlon Scotland.
Parking: Parking is available at the free council car parks on main high street (behind Neilson park), which is closest to transition. DO NOT park at the Aubigny swimming pool or Mill Wynd as it is restricted for the event.
Consent: By entering this event you give consent to photos being used for future publicity. Triathlon Scotland may contact you following the event to give you information about Triathlon Scotland and other events that you may be interested in.
This event is organised by a small group of volunteers with the help of the local community and East Lothian Triathlon Club. The event is non- profit making and the limited funds are used to promote & develop Multi-sport within East Lothian.
The main race festival is a successful, busy event with music, Race Announcer, Professional timing, and medals for all. There are also various Food, Smoothie, & Coffee Vendors, It is a great day out for the whole family. Please cheer on the athletes, stay for the prize giving and show your support. And Remember to visit our selfie board!
