Castle Douglas Bike and Food Festival has a warm welcome for you in our renowned Food Town. We will offer you the opportunity to experience miles and miles of scenic gravel routes in the Galloway Forest.  Castle Douglas Development Forum alongside Forestry and Land Scotland and local landowners to provide a stunning backdrop for a testing 74km Gravel Sportive.  

The route will leave Castle Douglas on the A713 and will be on tarmac as far as the small town of Laurieston approx 12 kms and then will enter the forest. For the next 44kms the route is on a mix of trails and good surfaced forest roads, nothing too technical but there are a few potential wet spots. There will be a return trip to Castle Douglas on tarmac to finish in the town. 

We are currently planning to operate a time trial style start with bikes leaving 5-10 seconds apart. However things are changing very quickly so we will issue a full race briefing as we near the event. 

We aim to kick off at 9:00am which will allow you to be back in town with plenty of time to experience the local food market. There will be 2 aid stations on course to keep you refreshed, although we suggest you come prepared for the whole route without support. We will have basic tools and spares at the aid stations.
