Tilli 10k - organised by PH Racing Club

29 Dec 18

Event Summary

Welcome to the all new Tilli 10k, organised by PH Racing Club.

What better way to burn off that Christmas pudding than by coming along to our new, accurately measured, 10-kilometre running event, at 10.30am on Saturday 29 December 2018 in Tillicoultry.

Starting and finishing in Tillicoultry, the route traverses the traffic free Devon Way railway path to Dollar, returning the same way. Further details on the course below.

To ensure all is in order we will be operating per UK Athletics rules and under a Scottish Athletics permit.

Entry

Entries are online only via the EntryCentral website, and you need to be at least 15 years old by race day to participate. We won’t be accepting entries on the day, and there will be no waiting list, so please ensure you apply as soon as possible to assure your place, as numbers will be limited to 300 for this inaugural year.

Please note that there will be no refunds given for this event unless it is unable to go ahead due to unforeseen circumstances or adverse course conditions which would impact on the safety of competitors. We will endeavour to contact all competitors in advance if this situation arises.

Once you have entered you will receive a confirmation email including reminder details on the event. All you now need to do is keep training and turn up to registration on the 29 December to collect your race number.

If you are unable to run and wish to nominate a substitute, you will be able to make this change yourself before the closing date on Saturday 22 December at no extra charge.

Registration

Registration will be open in the Devonvale Hall, Tillicoultry, FK13 6NS, from 9.00am on race day.

Here you can collect your race number, use the toilet facilities, get changed, and leave your bag (at your own risk). There are no showers unfortunately. Registration will close at 10.15am sharp.

The hall has no car park, but you will find ample parking 200-metres away at the Sterling Mills outlet shopping village, so please park courteously.

Race start

The real bonus of our event is the fact the start line is on quiet Elistoun Drive immediately adjacent to the hall. This will be clearly marked on race day.

A pre-race briefing will take place at 10.25am to which all competitors must attend.

The race starts at 10.30am.

Race course

The course, for the most part, follows the Devon Way from Tillicoultry to Dollar and back. To avoid a dead turn, and allow you to keep the momentum going,  you will come off the Devon Way in Dollar for a 1km loop, before re-joining and heading homeward to Tillicoultry.

Apart from a wee section of gravel at the far end, the route is tarred wide pathway, and for all intents and purposes is flat, sheltered and traffic free.

This means it’s a fast one, so as such we have had Scottish Athletics accurately measure out 10km. Your result will therefore be valid toward national ranking statistics. However, the event is open to all, and if pace is not your thing, then you’ve got the lovely Devon River valley to enjoy, as well as views of the Ochil hills.

A water station will be provided at 4.5km where you leave the Devon Way. You’ll get a second chance of a drink when you pass this station again at 5.5km in the opposite direction.

To ensure the safety of competitors, the route will be marshalled at key points throughout, and we’ll be operating a lead bicycle and a last runner sweeper. Please follow any instructions marshals give.

Please note also that the Devon Way is a popular walking path and we will not have exclusive use of it for the race. Therefore please be aware of other users, especially those with dogs, and remain courteous as this is a right of way. We will post advance notice of the race for path users to try and lessen the effects on race day. As it is an out and back course it is advised that you run on the left hand side of the path to avoid other competitors.

Race finish

The finish line will be on, and at the end of, the Devon Way path in Tillicoultry, next to where you started. Please ensure you keep the finish line area clear so race marshals have a clear line of sight to those still sprinting in.

On finishing, all competitors will receive water and bananas. If you have injured yourself in any way, professional first aid will be on hand.

Results will be available as soon as possible in the hall, post food, so please bear with us and don’t pester the timekeepers!

Post race

We plan to have hot drinks, pastries and soup available for all participants in the hall from 11.15am, so please do come along even if you don’t think you’re a prize winner.

All being well, place results will be physically posted up for the majority of competitors before the prize giving. Full results and times will be found on the PH Racing Club website later in the day.

We will have a generous, and extensive prize list covering the first three places, male and female, in the following age categories:

Junior 15 – 17

Senior 18 – 39

Vet 40 – 49

Vet 50 – 59

Vet 60 – 69

Vet 70+

We look forward to receiving your entry and seeing you on the day.
