Entries can be purchased on a first-come-first-served basis as usual. For info, the application system which we were running for priority entry before Christmas has now stopped.

****

The Event

The Dramathon is actually four races : The Full Dram (nearly 42km), The Half Dram (nearly 21km), The Wee Dram (just over 10km) and the relay (We Dram).

All are trail races, mostly on well-maintained paths along the beautiful Speyside Way. The route takes in several distilleries along the route, offering sights and smells to ignite your senses. Depending on the distance you run you will pick up the corresponding miniatures of single malt at the end of the race.

The finish line for all the races is at Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown. The full marathon starts at Glenfarclas, the half-marathon starts at Tamdhu, the 10K in Aberlour and the various legs of the relay divide up the marathon route into roughly 4 x 10km.

The course is overall pretty flat, as it mostly follows the old railway line of the Speyside Way, but there are a few hills (one ascent in each of the four sections of the full marathon course). The final stretch from Craigellachie to Dufftown is a gradual uphill slope. Some short sections on minor roads (about 5k of the full marathon course in total).

The Spey Valley will be in full spectacular Autumnal bloom on race weekend – come and experience one of the most beautiful and interesting corners of Scotland.

The Dramathon is beautifully structured and well-paced with a great finish. Just like a Speyside malt in fact ...

The Dramathon (Relay) "We Dram"

The Dramathon Relay ("We Dram")

Saturday 19th October 2024

The Event:

Tackle The Full Marathon route in teams of four. Each stage is about a quarter of the full marathon route:

The first section from Glenfarclas to Ballindalloch features a rough-ish trail path just after Glenfarclas but you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of Ben Rinnes before the elegance of the manicured lawns of Ballindalloch Castle and their Estate Distillery.

The second section from Ballindalloch to Tamdhu is mostly plain sailing through the Spey Valley, except for the short climb up to Cragganmore Distillery.

The third section from Tamdhu to Aberlour starts with a wee (!) hill up to Cardhu which gives you some fine views. At Carron you will see the award-winning architecture of Dalmunach distillery before finishing in Aberlour for the handover.

The fourth and final section from Aberlour to Craigellachie is a breeze before the gradual climb up the Fiddich Valley and the grand finale taking you through Balvenie and Glenfiddich to claim your drams and catch your breath before the post-race celebrations.

Transport by bus will be provided from Glenfiddich distillery to the various relay start points (staggered departures).

First leg starts at 10am at Glenfarclas (bus departure from Glenfiddich at 9am). Runners of legs 2, 3, 4 depart in buses from Glenfiddich later in the morning.

All times to be confirmed in the athlete briefing document.

All those taking part will receive a custom medal, samples of Speyside single malt whisky and a Glencairn tasting glass.

We no longer provide single use plastic cups at food stations. Please bring your own portable cup. You need to plan to carry your cup during the race.

Organisation

Relay team enrolment is done by one member of the team. The full amount is paid by this person.

NB: we try to limit our carbon footprint. As such, please note :

1) Finisher t-shirt is an optional extra which you can purchase (or not) at sign-up. Our local (Inverness) supplier provides tshirts made from recycled material. BTW we don't make any profit on the tshirts, we just pass on the cost price from the supplier.

2) By far the biggest part of our carbon footprint is due to travel to the event, so we are asking you to help offset this by buying trees for our "Dramathon Grove", in rough proportion to the distance you're travelling. Also please car-share as much as possible.

Changes to relay teams may be done until 28th September 2024. After that date no changes will be allowed.

Race numbers will be distributed on Friday 18th October 2024 between 2.00pm and 5.00pm and on race day between 7am and 8.30am.

Should you choose to buy cancellation insurance when buying your entries, please keep a note of your reference in case you need to make a claim. The Dramathon doesn't have this info and won't be able to provide it to you.

Please note that we reserve the right to change the route at any time. Please watch the event's facebook page for latest updates :
