The Omen 66.6 Ultra & 6.66

04 Jun 2022

This Festival is in a testing state, and is not open for public sign-ups until the organiser has launched it.

Organiser's Description

Welcome to The Omen 66.6 Ultra and The Omen 6.66 aka "Baby Damien"

Covid19 update - There will likely still be some changes to the event in order to ensure the safety of runners, crew and the public as much as possible. Currently we expect to have to make changes to our usual registration, aid stations and return transport provision. Runners may be asked to provide personal nutrition for crew to take to checkpoints which may be subject to change without notice. We thank our runners in advance for their cooperation with any safety measures which we put in place for their and our crews safety.

The full course takes in a good chunk of the North Downs Way with views of Guildford Cathedral as featured in The Omen film.  At approximately 66.6 miles, point to point, this is a great distance for those preparing for a century or a tough challenge for less experienced ultra runners (and not to be undererstimated).  The 6.66 shares the same start point near Guildford Cathedral and finishes at the Silent Pool.  Return transport for both distances is included if booked when you sign up.

It is possible to enter the 66.6 Ultra in a relay team.  The baton (tracker) can only be handed over at one of the 8 checkpoints.  Entered in a small team this still be a challenge, a larger team will make it much more manageable.  All runners will receive a t-shirt and a medal, there is an £11 extra charge per team member for teams larger than 2 runners. Teams are responsible for their own transport arrangements.

Please check the Race Pack for all essential race details (this is from a previous edition but there have been no changes) and you can find the course complete with 8 checkpoint locations and a GPX file on www.wacky.events

Important note: the majority of the self navigated course follows the North Downs Way (signed but not fool proof), is off road, some road sections and there are multiple road crossings.  Care must be taken at all times, you are responsible for your own safety and for following the course as shown online.  Please ensure your race number is on your front and that you have been checked in at each aid station.  There will be cut-offs for your safety.  All solo ultra runners must have completed a foot race of at least 26.2 miles before taking part in The Omen 66.6 Ultra within three years of the event, note this isn't required before entering.

Results will be available online as soon as possible after the event.  We will always aim to have provisional results published within 24 hours.

A final mail we be sent out during race week, please check this for any changes or extra info.  The mandatory kit list for Ultra runners is detailed below.    Registration and kit check will be at the bottom of the Guildford Cathedral drive, Stag Hill, Guildford, Surrey GU2 7UP, provisionally from 06.15 - 06.45, a briefing will take place at 6.55 and we will start at 7am.
Kit list (ultra solo and ultra relay only) -
Tracker provided by Organisers.  This must be attached to your running pack with clear view of the sky (generally taped to the shoulder strap).  If tracker is lost or damaged you will be required to pay for it's replacement.  Relay teams must transfer the tracker to the next runner, we suggest using the same pack is easiest.
Fully Charged Mobile Phone. This must have Race Director number stored, be set to loud, data and GPS should be turned off to extend battery life and waterproofed. If you plan to use you phone to aid navigation, take selfies or in any other way other than for safety/ contact with the race organisers, you must carry means of charging on the move to ensure sufficient battery life).  If you are using a number different to that you signed up with you must make this known at registration. If you are running late for a CP, require first aid or are withdrawing you must contact the RD. In the event of serious illness/ injury the emergency services should be contacted before the RD.
Water Bottles/Bladder.
Calories.
Foil Blanket.
Map of route - We suggest the Harvey North Downs Way map as it is waterproof. If you want to use a non waterproof map you must have a map case.
Fully Waterproof Jacket (waterproofing may be checked at registration).
Hat/buff and Gloves.
Compass and Whistle.
Headtorch or hand held.
Kind regards, David and Tina, www.wacky.events
