Organiser's Description
Join Perth Road Runners for the 11th running of the Tay Ten!
This is a Scottish Athletics licensed event.
RACE DISTANCE & DESCRIPTION
The course is an accurately measured and SA certified 10 miles on “B” class roads and riverside track. It is a flat (fast) course, perfect for a PB, with a stadium start and finish. The vast majority of the route is on tarmac, with a small section on trail. The route will be clearly marked and marshalled.
Further information about the event, including course details and car parking options, can be found on the Perth Road Runners website: http://www.perthroadrunners.co.uk/tay-ten/.
ENTRY FEE
Entrance fee for the event will be dependent on your medal selection, or lack thereof, at check out. Along with many of the entrants, Perth Road Runners care about the environmental footprint of our event. Not all runners wish to take a medal: we offer them that choice and, with it, our lowest entry cost too. For those that seek a memento of the day, a medal is available. We have offered a sustainable wildflower seed medal in previous years. However, reflecting feedback on what makes for the best event medal, we will this year be offering a bespoke wooden medal - which can double as a coaster for those seeking a more 'useful' memento - from The Workshop in Aberfeldy. This medal is priced at £5.00 and is in addition to the base entry fee. Examples of The Workshop's medals can be seen in the above weblink.
Those wishing to receive a medal must have completed their sign-up before 15th March. Any sign-ups after this date will automatically be set to the lower entrance fee with no medal.
Pricing Structure:
Bespoke wooden medal at finish line - £21.00 (S.A. members £18.00)
No medal at finish line - £16.00 (S.A. members £13.00)
All entrants must be 17 years or over.
Strictly no entries on the day, no refunds and no deferrals.
Transfers will be accepted up until 11th April 2026. Transfers will carry an admin charge as set by EntryCentral.
RACE LIMIT
Strictly limited to 375 runners
LICENSING AND REGULATIONS
The race is licensed by Scottish Athletics. The 2026 licence is in place and available here. The race thus operates under UK Athletics/Scottish Athletics regulations and policies.
INCLUSION
We are keen to welcome competitors who may have physical or intellectual impairment, and have done so at our races in recent years. We also have a duty of care to all athletes and volunteers. So as to be able to assist – and manage risk – as much as possible, we do ask:
a) if you have any doubt about the suitability of the event and course, and before entering, to contact the Organiser on this webpage to discuss using the email icon to the right; and
b) to let us know during the entry process when prompted if you have any impairment. This also helps us to monitor our ability to help, and to improve in this area.
Runners may enter the race in male, female or non-binary/other categories.
START TIME/REGISTRATION/FACILITIES
Race start time: 11am on Sunday 3rd May 2026
Registration:
Registration will be in person from 09:30-10:30. Registration will be held within Perth Grammar School Games Hall. You will receive a number that must be worn clearly (not obscured by straps/jackets/reduced in size) on your front to ensure accurate timing.
Any entrant found to have transferred numbers - or be wearing a transferred number - after registration will be disqualified and may be banned from future events. Number switching invalidates results and age category positions and can have serious implications if a runner becomes unwell during the event.
Race start location:
The race starts and finishes at the George Duncan Athletics Track at Perth Grammar School, Gowans Terrace, Perth, PH1 5AZ.
Car Parking:
Parking will be available at Perth Grammar School, Bute Drive, Muirton, Perth, PH1 5AZ.
If dedicated car parks are full, there is free street parking nearby, however please ensure you park considerately as it is a residential area. A map of allowed and prohibited parking locations will be sent to entrants before the race.
Toilet facilities:
There are toilet facilities available at both the George Duncan Athletics Track and Perth Grammar School hall. Gender-neutral toilets will be available.
Changing Rooms and Showers:
There will be limited changing facilities available at the track, however these are not very large (and few are gender-neutral) so please arrive ready to run if possible. There will be no access to showers.
Catering:
Food and hot drinks will be available from Bonnie Brews in the event grounds for participants and spectators.
Further information about the event, including course details and car parking options, can be found on the Perth Road Runners website: http://www.perthroadrunners.co.uk/tay-ten/.
DOGS - PLEASE NOTE: No dogs - except guide dogs - will be allowed in the track, hall or in the main car park. If it is necessary they come with you, you may park in the car park available off of Gowans Avenue. However, dogs will need to remain in the car and be walked outwith the event area, including the main car park. We apologise in advance for the inconvenience this may cause; these restrictions are imposed upon us by facility owners.
HEADPHONES - PLEASE NOTE: In line with SA and UKA rules, we will only permit the use of headphone or earphones that use bone conduction technology, which allow the wearer to be aware of their surroundings. However, this is at your own risk and if an incident occurs as a result of, or made worse by, the wearing of these headphones or earphones you may be held liable.
WATER STATION
There is 1 water station on the route which runners will pass twice – firstly between the 4- and 5- mile markers and then again between the 7- and 8- mile markers.
EVENT SAFETY
The safety of runners, spectators and bystanders is of paramount importance at the Tay Ten. With the course being 90%+ held on byways that do not admit cars, risks are lower than in many road races. However, risks are still present, especially on the narrower sections of cycleway and path. It is a condition of entry that runners a) enter at their own risk b) obey the instructions of event officials and c) read and heed our event risk assessment
FINISHING TIMES/RESULTS
In line with most recent Tay Tens, the race is timed on gun time. Provisional results will be available on Webscorer's results page during/after the race. Official results will be published on our Tay Ten Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/taytenprr and the Perth Road Runners website (http://www.perthroadrunners.co.uk/) shortly afterwards.
CUT-OFF TIME
As we only have access to the George Duncan Athletics track until 14:00, there will be a strict cut-off finishing time of 2hrs 30mins. If you do not think you will be able to finish within this time, we unfortunately have to ask you not to enter the race on this occasion.
