Organiser's Description

’We had an excellent time at Tartan Warrior last weekend. Everything was so well planned, from pre-race briefings to directions, parking, registration and the race itself. The course was clearly marked, marshals were very supportive and obstacles were well spaced out and provided a great variety in terms of difficulty and type. The t-shirt and medal were fab, music was great and treats afterwards were very much appreciated! Thanks to everyone involved- I’d highly recommend - 5 stars!’’

(Kirsty Horne and Family, Tartan Warrior Runners 2023)

Tartan Warrior Classic Obstacle Course is back!

(For our short course (3km) and sprint course (100m) click here )

Our family friendly Obstacle Course Race will be on Sunday 24th March 2024

(the day after the short/sprint course)

The Course

The course will be 5km for all non-competitive runners (and competitive 10-13 yr olds) and 8km for competitive runners (14 yrs+).

It will be a mixture of fields, short hills, burns (aka streams) and trails. We'll have 35+ awesome obstacles spread out over the course to keep all of the family on their toes. Be prepared and dressed appropriately to get wet and muddy and have loads of fun. You will be crawling, jumping, climbing and swinging your way around. The course will be marked and marshalled all the way allowing you to focus on your race and have fun safely.

Tartan Toddlers

Please note: Kids must be accompanied (and assisted where required) at all times by parent/guardian whilst on the Tartan Toddlers course

Getting to and arrival at the venue

Use what3words: vets.played.reduce

OR address is Wheatrig Farm,Kilmaurs, KA3 2NG.

Race numbers will be given out on the day, please arrive at least 1 hour before your wave time to allow you to collect your number and warm up before you start. Please be on the start 10mins before your start time as we want to make sure you are warmed up and ready to go.

We will have a one way system in operation

Please come via the village of Kilmaurs and approach the venue from this side (most routes will naturally bring you through Kilmaurs anyway). Once you drive through the village and are about to exit the 30 mph zone you will see a Tartan Warrior sign post telling you to turn left along Standalane. Drive for three quarters of a mile along that road and you will see the farm road on your left.

Exiting the venue

The farm road is single track so please do not drive back down it otherwise you could cause a traffic jam.

Instead you will be signposted down a different farm road running parallel to the road you came up. At the bottom you will be directed left to take a slightly longer loop back to Kilmaurs. Please do not turn right as you could cause a traffic jam.

We ask all drivers to drive slowly along the nearby country roads as there could be dog walkers, horses or children walking on them

Car Parking/Charity/Key Drop

For car parking we would appreciate a small donation (recommended £3) for our chosen charity (tbc)

We will have designated hard surface car parking available for up to maximum of 80 cars and a small amount of field space.

With this in mind please car share as much as possible.

The parking will be very close to the start/finish line so you can leave bags in the car.

There won't be a bag drop but there will be a key drop

Toilet facilities are available on site in the form of portaloos. There will be no showers available so please bring a towel and change of clothes and be prepared to change at your vehicles. Food and Refreshments will also be available on site.

Race Capacity

We want to be sure we can deliver a quality race for you, that runs as smoothly as possible.

With this in mind will we be limiting entries to 400 people (50 in each wave) - if we feel nearer the time that can accomadate more cars and therefore offer more places then we will open these up.

Please book early to avoid missing out

Also whilst we would love to have everyone stay all day, we would ask if possible, that you limit your time at the venue to a maximum of 2.5 hours to help free up parking for people arriving for later waves. This should still give you plenty of time to race and get some food/drink afterwards. Please only arrive 1 hour before your wave start time.

By entering, you agree to the following conditions

  1. All participants must wear appropriate clothing and footwear (strictly no football boots or spikes). It is also important to bring a change of clothing and footwear for after the event as you do get wet and muddy. There are no shower facilities.

2.     Participants take part at entirely their own risk and the organisers will not be liable for any injury before, during or after the event.

3.     Participants under the age of 16 cannot enter without parent/guardian's permission.

4.     Entry Fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another race date.

5.     There will be a £5 fee for entry transfers to another person.

6.     By entering, participants declare that they are physically fit and have sufficiently trained for this event and waive and renounce any rights and claims for damages they may have against Tartan Warrior (trading as OCR Ayrshire Ltd).

7.     Children under the age of 10 should be accompanied by a participating adult when running. 1 participating adult can accompany up to a maximum of 3 children under 10.

8.     Adverse weather conditions on the day may cause the race to be rescheduled.

9.     Photographs and filming will be done at this event and by entering you consent to this and their use by Tartan Warrior and their partners.

*Tartan Warrior will only share your details with British Obstacle Sports for the purposes of automatic team selection and will not pass on to any third party.
