Organiser's Description
Run Dunlop is back for 2026!
This popular community event is returning to the village. It will take place on Sunday 6th September 2026. This will be an inclusive family friendly event, including a 5km fun run and a 2km family fun run. If you are a new runner, then this will be an ideal first event. Equally, if you are a regular runner please come along and try and beat your Trindlegreen PB. We will have tail walkers in place, so please be assured you will not be left behind!
90% of proceeds will be given to Dunlop Primary Parent's Association in order to support a whole school trip for Summer 2027. 10% of proceeds will be donated to 23rd Ayrshire (Dunlop) Scout Group. This was the charity chosen by Dunlop Primary Pupil Council for this year.
All racers will receive a medal (kindly funded by Dunlop Gala team). We will also provide cups of water, a cake and ELF bothy have generously donated bananas for competitors.
There will be various prizes up for grabs, as well as coveted house tokens, organised by Mrs Nouillan and the pupils. The Miller family have kindly provided some bales for a podium to celebrate your achievements at the end!

ROUTE:
The race will start on Kirkland Road and head up Main St, Stewarton Road, then past the train station on Newmill Road, It will then head up Trindlegreen (towards Uplawmoor). The turning point for the 5km run will be the T-junction at the top of Trindlegreen. The turning point for the 2km run will be marked by marshalls (located between the village and Merrymouth Farm). Marshalls will be located at key points on the route to help. Please be aware this is not a closed road race, so some traffic may be present. Water will not be provided on the route, so please bring your own if required.
Please keep LEFT whilst on course, as this is an out and back event.
Please note this is a self-timed event.
Prams, scooters and pushchairs are welcome to take part in the 2km family fun run. Dogs on leads are welcome to take part in the 2km. Wheelchair users (and other mobility aids) are welcome to join in both the 5km and 2km races. Please be considerate of your fellow competitors.
ENTRIES:
Online entries are encouraged with early bird offers in place. We are limited to 250 places so please sign up as soon as possible. Whilst not affiliated to UK/Scottish Athletics, we have followed their distance guidance and thus, the 5km race will only be open to those aged 12 and over on the day of the race. Younger runners are welcome to try out their speed in the 2km family fun run!
Online entries will close on Friday 4th September 2359hrs. Entry Central will show the event closed when the 250 competitor limit is reached. Entries are non-transferrable and non-refundable.
Limited entries will be available on the day. On the day prices will be £15 for 5km and £5 for 2km.
You should receive an email confirming your entry.
REGISTRATION:
Registration will be in Dunlop Playing fields. 5km runners will be issued with a number (safety pins provided) and 2km runner will be issued with a wrist band. Registration is 1230hrs - 1345hrs for all races. Please come early to avoid the rush!
2km race start = 1400hrs
5km race start = 1430hrs
TOILETS/CHANGING:
We will have access to the pavillon within the park for changing and toilets. Please note this is a small and limited facility, so where possible please leave belongings at home. Belongings are left at the owners risk.
PARKING
We would kindly ask that if competitors require to park their car in the village that they try to avoid the race route. Thank you.
DISCLAIMER/CANCELLATION:
Competitors and spectators safety will always be the highest priority for the event organisers. If anything occurs that is outwith our control that would compromise health and safety then we reserve the right to modify, cancel or reschedule the event accordingly. The organisers will communicate any changes as far ahead as circumstances dictate along with entry decisions.
Competitors take part at their own risk and by entering online will automatically agree to the disclaimer and Participant Waiver and Liability Release. First aiders will be present.
