River Ayr Way Ultra and Relay            Saturday 9th September 2023

  • 40 mile ultra marathon through some of Ayrshire's most spectacular scenery
  • your chance to discover a little-known corner of Scotland
  •  Fruit, cold drinks and a friendly welcome at checkpoints every 10 miles
  • water stations every 5 miles
  • drop-bags conveyed to checkpoints
  • rucksacks conveyed to the finish
  • transport to the start of the race from Ayr or Kilmarnock

Dam Park Stadium or Alternative new Stadium will be open from 7am on the day. Please note that the facilities provide only male and female designated changing, toilet and showering facilities.
Please park at the Ayrshire College or Ayr Academy car park


Buses depart at 7.30am from Ayrshire College Car Park and Dean Castle Country Park, please make sure you have booked a seat ** Please note this year there will be a charge of £5 per person for the bus to Glenbuck which is payable on the morning of the race
Registration at Glenbuck from 8am. There are no toilet facilities at Glenbuck.
Drop bags marked with your Race number and the appropriate Checkpoint Number can be left at registration

Section 1:  Glenbuck to Sorn, 17 miles, mainly off road, rural paths

Section 2:  Sorn to Annbank,  14 miles, mainly off road, rural paths. Some on road sections.

Section 3:  Annbank to Ayr, 9 miles, mainly on road and tarmac paths

Overall time allowed: 10 hours

Check-in Saturday 9th September, 7.30 to 8.45 at Glenbuck Loch

Glenbuck Loch to Dam Park, Ayr

Distance: 40 miles

Max Time: 10 hours

Before the race

Dam Park Stadium or Alternative New Stadium will be open from 7am on the day. Please note that the facilities provide only male and female designated changing, toilet and showering facilities.
Please park at the Ayrshire College or Ayr academy car park

During the race

All Checkpoints will have  water
10 mile checkpoints will have runners bag drop, juice, chocolate, fruit and snacks
First Aid will be available
If you wish to pull out of the race please tell a marshal.
Diversions may be in place on the day. However, where they are, the diverted route will be fully signposted. Please follow all local signage
Running conditions in some sections are very muddy underfoot
The River Ayr Way is generally speaking off road but there are small sections on quiet road and the final five miles is on tarmac

Finish is at Dam Park or new Stadium Race Track where you will be expected to do a lap of the track before completing the race.

After the race

Dam Park or alternative showers will be open until 8pm. Stadium only provides male and female designated toilets, changing rooms and showers.
Minibus back to Kilmarnock from Dam Park or alternative New Stadium, although there may be a waiting time for this bus depending on numbers.

No pacers, muling or support runners

No running with dogs

No running aids

No littering
