25 Aug 2024

Organiser's Description

2024 Pershore Plum 10k Race

Date and Time

Sunday 25th August 2024 at 09.00am

The Course

The chip timed course is a multi-terrain flat 10k route, starting at Pershore Leisure Centre, heading out along Pershore High Street, over the river, into the countryside and fields surrounding Wick, returning back into Pershore town and finishing in the Abbey Park Grounds with the backdrop of the impressive Pershore Abbey.

There will be marshals in various places on the course, directional signs and road markings.

Route

We are expecting the course to be the same as the 2023 course. This will be confirmed in the pre-race e-brief, with various signage and a small army of marshals to direct and support runners. The e-brief is sent out to the participant’s email address entered during the entry process. This is sent out in the preceding week before the race. Check your spam folder if you have not received this by 22nd August. Otherwise, contact us via email

The presentation of the prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female runners will be awarded on a '1st past the post basis' based on gun time. There will also be prizes for the 1st male and 1st female in each age category which will be based on chip timing. Race winners can only win one award.

Each finishing runner will be presented with a medal, bottle of water and a plum.

Following deduction of costs, a proportion of the entry fee will be donated to a number of local Pershore charities nominated by the Race Committee. Any monies remaining will be retained by the club to help support future events or develop running further.

Water Stations

There will be one water station provided on the course which you pass at around 2.5k, again at 7.2k with compostable cups for your use. We are constantly reviewing how to offer water safely and ethically to runners during the event. Please use bins provided throughout the event to help maintain a zero impact to the area. We shall be monitoring the weather in advance of the race and an additional water station may be setup at 5k if it is a hot day.

Race Rules

The Rules are clear that “in ear” headphones cannot be used in events where roads are open to traffic.

Bone conducting headphones are the only earphones that are approved for use in all road races under the UK Athletics Rules of Competition.

These potentially prevent accidents caused by traditional headphones and earbuds that block out sounds, runners can enjoy their music and still hear everything around them – including traffic, emergency vehicles and other warning noises.

It is prohibited for anyone to cycle alongside any runner due to course constraints and interference with other runners.
