Dumfries Running Club invites runners to test themselves in a One-Hour Track Race on 30 May 2026. 

This will take place at;

The David Keswick Athletics Centre, Marchmount, Dumfries, DG1 1PX

To cater for as wide a range of racers as possible - from people trying a time trial for the first time to Masters athletes with their sights on age-related best performance times - we will be holding two separate races. 

Race 1; Novice, 09:00 - 10:00 hrs

Enter this race if you are a not targeting an age-related UK best performance. This is also an opportunity for lap counters to have a run before the second race.  

The minimum age for entrants on the day of the race is 17.

Race 2; Masters, 10:30 - 11:30 hrs

Hosted for masters athletes, this event targets runners seeking UK 'best performances' times as found on the BMAF website 

A race lap counter will record all laps completed and additional distance covered. 

Please note that for a best performance to be accepted, a record of lap times will be required from a second recorder appointed by the athlete. Two competing athletes can have the same recorder. The two sheets - one from the race lap counter and the other from your own recorder - are required to update UK Best Performances. 

The race

Both races will start by whistle. A 'one minute to go' announcement will be made at the 59-minute mark by ringing a bell. 

Runners must stop promptly and wait for the measuring wheel to reach you or for a race assistant to mark your finishing position.

Photography or video may be used as a backup recording of the race finish. 

Leaving the track during the race

If an athlete needs to leave the track during the race for any reason and then return, a designated position will be marked for leaving and re-entering the track.

Timing

We will have a digital clock to display the time at the start position throughout the race. 

The venue

The David Keswick Athletics Centre has ample parking spaces and is a 15-minute walk from Dumfries railway station. Changing rooms, toilets and shower facilities are available, and the venue will be open from 8 am. 

First Aid cover will be provided. 

This event is pending a licence via Scottish Athletics.
