Longside Loop 10 miles and Junior mile

Organiser's Description

Welcome to the Longside Loop 10 mile race and Junior Mile. 

Saturday May 9th 2020 at 11:00

Organised by Peterhead Athletics Club under UK Athletics rules. A Scottish Athletics permitted event

We are pleased to launch the 3rd year of the Longside Loop and Junior mile events. We are very grateful for the fantastic feedback we received from previous years events and hope that we can continue to provide an race that people enjoy. 

Registration and number collection will again be from Longside Parish Church hall, where after the races there will be teas, coffees, sandwiches and homebakes for all runners, organisers and volunteers. This year we would like to encourage more juniors to take part in the Junior Mile events. 

As it stands (and subject to change), the planned schedule for the day will be:

  • 09:15 - Registration opens for all events.
  • 09:45 - Junior under-12s and under-16s to gather at church hall and walk to the start.
  • 10:00 - Start of Junior Mile under 12's race.  
  • 10:10 - Start of Junior Mile under 16s race.
  • 10:40 - Seniors to gather at church hall and walk to start.
  • 10:55 - Pre-race briefing
  • 11:00 - Start of Brewtoon Longside Loop 10 mile race.
  • 13:30 (approx) - prizes awarded and raflle drawn

If there are any changes in the schedule we will inform you prior to the day.

Please note terms and conditions of entry:

  1. To enter the race, entrants must be
    • Eligible to compete under SAL rules and willing to abide by those rules.
    • Aged 16 years or over on the day of the race.
    • Physically fit to run 10 miles 
  2. Entries for participants under the age of 18 must be made by a parent or legal guardian
  3. All runners participate entirely at their own risk. The race organisers (Peterhead Athletics Club) and their associates shall not be liable for any accident, injury, loss or damage arising as a consequence of any runner’s participation in the race.
  4. Submitting an entry to the race authorises Peterhead Athletics Club to
    • use the runner’s e-mail address to send information about the Longside Loop 10 miler and
    • use for promotional purposes pictures of the entrant taking part in the Longside Loop 10 mile race or prize-giving
  5. Entries are not transferable
  6. Entries may not be deferred to a subsequent year
  7. Entrants have the right to cancel and receive a refund for any entry made over the Internet as long as that is done within 7 days of the original entry date.
  8. No other refunds will be made except in the event of the organisers deciding to cancel the race.

The Longside Loop 10 mile race

Note - entries limited to 300

Organised by Peterhead Athletics Club under UK Athletics rules. A Scottish Athletics permitted event. Accurately measured and certified by AUKCM.

This event is open to runners aged 16 years or older.Before entering, please note the race entry terms and conditions shown on the event website.

Registration and number collection will be at Longside Parish Church Hall. Registration opens at 09:15 for senior and junior events

The start is about a 5 minute walk from the hall, going up Station road past the golf course. There will be signposts and guides to show the way. The route takes in some of the beautiful scenery of the Buchan countryside. 

PRIZES FOR:-

  • 1st overall male and 1st overall female
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd male seniors, veterans, senior veterans and vintage
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd female seniors, veterans, senior veterans and vintage
  • Additional spot prizes
  • Prizes for new course records
  • In the event of 2 prizes being won by the same person (excluding course record prize), the second of the prizes will be filtered down through the applicable age category 

(Note:-  the number of prizes for each category may be altered depending on the number of entries in that category).

FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS FOR ALL RUNNERS 

At the end of the race, there will be teas, coffees, sandwiches and homebakes available for all competitors, organisers and volunteers back at Longside Parish Church hall,

Brewtoon will have a stall set up with various products available to purchase for anyone who is interested. For more details look for Brewtoon Microbrewery Bar and Café on Facebook.

All runners and volunteers are also invited along to Brewtoon Microbrewery Bar and Café for a post-event celebration with barbeque / hot and cold snacks available,

The Longside Loop Junior Mile for Under 16s

Organised by Peterhead Athletics Club under UK Athletics rules. A Scottish Athletics permitted event

This event is open to runners aged 12 to 15 years. Before entering, please note the race entry terms and conditions shown on the event website.

Registration and number collection will be at Longside Parish Church Hall. Registration opens at 09:15 for senior and junior events

The start is about a 10 minute walk from the hall, going up Station road past the golf course and on to the liney on the Peterhead side. All junior competitors are to gather at the Church hall by no later than 10:00 and will collectively be walked to the start line for a 10:10 start.

PRIZES FOR 1st boy and 1st girl :-

  • Under 14s
  • Under 16s

Medal and goody bag for all finishers
