Gt Mis Tor Fell race and Devon AA Champs 

Saturday March 23th 2024

Welcome to the first race of the Dartmoor fell Series 2024 and also the Devon AA Champs. We hope with good weather this will give you some inspiring views and some awsome running. We are starting nice and early, from Princetown Brewery gate , so you can enjoy the afternoon but also release the car park for lunchtime walkers. The route is a nice 11.4k and 430m of climb, which is close the the intercounties challenge. 

Key timings

There are no Juniors only over 18's can compete.; Seniors start at 10:000am . Please ensure you check in on time,registration opens at 9;20am.

• Best Times for the course:   Not yet set - expecting sub 60 mins? but who?
• Awards for normal ages groups.
• Plus Devon County Selection - although not doing medals. 
• The run will be limited to a maximum of 55 competitors due to planning restrictions, apologies for this change.

SW Fellrunners and Tavistock AC are pleased to stage this fell race.The event has an FRA licence, DNPA approval and all courses will be marshalled, we are hope you enjoy the course which is unmarked. ( so please read the route).  We are welcoming anyone with an interest in off-road running to this new event. 

Route for seniors

The navigation should be easy ( did i just say that?) as long as you are not in cloud but even then is good runnable terrain ( mostly). Starting at the entrance, run up main path to north hessary tower, from top there is a nice sheep trod towards Hollow tor. ( first marshal). Just below is also a road crossing with a marshal , cross here and take quad ike track towards Little Mis tor( yep up all the way).

There will be a marshal but leave there and head down the valley following the stone wall toward sthe river Walkham( no need to cross) again another marshal. You will follow the river upstream to next marshal where the range markers intersect. Follow these all the way  to the look out hut ( marshal), from here its is straight back to Little mis then return the way you came - fast running to road crossing ( please take care) . Then over Hollow tor and onto the finish at the brewery gate.

Entry For seniors

You have a choice of just the Fell series race or a small additional fee for the Devon Champs. The fee is to is to support travel for Devon AA teams to Lake district on April 21st. We have tried to keep these as economic as possible. Just choose the right tab . Looking forward to see if we can build on our national success of 9th County last year in 2022.

Kit (seniors)

Due the classification of the senior race Medium A - Kit is mandatory - so that means you will need to carry - Waterproof ( top and legs), hat, gloves, whistle, compass , map and nutritious snack. This is genuinely for your own safety - one rule for all - not kit - no run. If really severe weather wait for post email and on facebook site. Some steep descents so grippy shoes please.

Parking 
The please use regular paying car park in princetown ( alos has toilets but you neee to 'pay to pee!) - registration will be at brewery car park gate which is just a short walk.
