Organiser's Description
- Kimberley & District Striders are proud to bring you once again our annual 10k event, The Goose Fair Gallop. We first held this event back in 1987, and it remains the highlight of our club calendar, with each year getting better!
- We don't mean to brag, but we have sold out for the last four years, in fact in 2025, we sold out in less than 8 days, so don't delay - we do have a waiting list, though, and most people were offered places, so don't panic either if you miss out!
- We offer a pretty flat 10km course with amazing views, and our friendly, supportive event staff are there to make sure you have a fabulous day! The course has been planned to be as close to 10km as possible, but it is not exact, so your result will not show on ranking sites such as Run Britain.
- We are ridiculously excited to be based at the new visitors centre and using the long-awaited ramp. Fingers crossed for a clear day this year so you can enjoy the magnificent views!
- You can see the route here https://gb.mapometer.com/running/route_5632046.html There will be plenty of our amazing KADS marshals on course to keep you safe and on course.
- The conditions underfoot vary from canal paths, gravel paths, unkept trails, to smooth pavement.
- As before, participants must register an account with Entry Central, which enables them to make sure we have the correct EA affiliation information and also enables you to transfer your place if required (see our policy HERE).
Date: Sunday 11th October 2026
Race start: 10:00 am (mass start)
Timing: Chip timing used
Distance: 10k
Race Permit Number: ARC/26/0371
Participants: Entries are limited to 350 participants, and it will not be possible to enter on the day. All participants must be over 18 years of age on the day of the race and in good physical health to complete the 10k course (see below).
Time limit: We do not have a strict time limit or sweeper as there are no road closures. We do ask, however, that you are physically fit enough to complete the course in under 1 hour 40 minutes (around 10 min/km or 16 min/mile).
Finishers will get a custom-designed technical t-shirt and a custom shiny medal. Please check the T-shirt size guide before registering, as we cannot change sizes afterwards. If you tend to be between sizes, you may wish to consider sizing up.
Car Park: Parking will be at the usual spot, accessible via the A610, signposted “Birnam Park”, use postcode NG16 2DE. The car park will be signposted from the slip road. This is the same place as we have used in 2024 and 2025. The car park will close at 9.30am, so ensure you arrive in plenty of time. Please also car share where possible. Please note the carpark will not reopen until the tailwalkers have passed the 3km mark (approx 10:30)
Race start and village: Bennerley Viaduct Visitors Centre, off Shilo Way, Awsworth, NG16 2BF. Please note that there is no parking at the visitors centre.
Headphone policy: Due to the narrow paths on the route, we ask that any earphones worn are bone conductor styles so that you can still be aware of your surroundings and hear the people around you. This is for your and everyone else’s safety. Any participants wearing over-the-head styles or unable to hear the marshals' instructions will be asked to remove them and may be disqualified if found to be acting in an unsafe manner.
Playing music straight from your device is also not allowed – your music is your choice, nobody else needs to be forced to listen!
Transfers: Entries are non-refundable and non-deferrable. You can transfer your entry online via Entry Central to another runner until 12th September 2026. If there are people on the waiting list, we may be able to sell your place for a small fee. For full details, please see our GFG Waiting List & Transfer Policy HERE.
Terms and Conditions: Boring but important! Please make sure you read the event terms and conditions before entering.
