The Route
The 3 Beaches Half Marathon is a multi-terrain running event held on the Isle of Benbecula, Outer Hebrides.
The event can be run solo or as a pair. The course starts on machair land behind the Dark Island Hotel, you swiflty enter Liniclate beach (#1) heading North towards "Stinky Bay" (beach #2), named for its fresh smell of seaweed! Just after the Culla Bay beach (#3) checkpoint / pairs changeover (5 miles) the route turns onto tarmac for the remainder of the race finishing in front of the Dark Island Hotel for a well earned drink!
Entry is £20, this gets you the sweet aroma of fresh seaweed, water on the course (both salty & fresh!), prizes, a medal, great scenery & craic along the way!

The beach and machair land can be uneven underfoot, therefore special care should be taken. Please note the rabbits on Benbecula dig their burrows using spades so the holes can be fairly large!!
