Organiser's Description

National Running Week, proudly supported by FWB Park Brown, is an event which will take place on an annual basis in Scotland with the aim of increasing representation in disadvantaged communities Athletics Trust Scotland and celebrating the positive impact that running and athletics has on those who take part. You can read more about the impact that running & athletics can have on peoples lives here.

Our challenge during National Running Week for you is simple. We want you to assemble your club mates or work colleagues and walk, jog, run or wheel a 5k at any point during National Running Week

To take part you must agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • The challenge must be 5km (3.1miles) in length (reasonable GPS margin of error).
  • The challenge must be run between 00:00am on Monday 5th and 23:59 on Sunday 11th June.
  • To be shown on the leaderboard for the 5k challenge, simply log in to your Entry Central account and submit your performance by 14th June at noon.
  • We encourage selfies and please tag us by using #nationalrunningweek
  • Runs should be named as "National Running Week 5k" on Strava or whatever platform you use.
  • Results will be based on “time elapsed” rather than “moving time” – try not to stop your watch during the challenge!
  • Routes with significant negative elevation will not be counted.

By signing up to National Running Week you will be helping to raise funds and awareness to help ATS continue their work in supporting those who have not had the opportunity to experience the positive and life changing effects that running and athletics can have.

Research shows that people who live in poverty and those who are in ethnically and culturally diverse communities are underrepresented in athletics and less likely to take part than those who don’t. Further, participation levels are lower amongst people with a disability. Whilst 1 in 5 people in Scotland have a disability, a staggering 80% of those want to take part in more sport and physical activity.

If you would like to support our mission to support disadvantaged communities even more, you can fundraise as part of National Running Week, via the justgiving link here or simply donate directly to us here

For those who raise more than £50 will receive a special momento that will be sent to you after the challenge.
