Hereford Triathlon Club Open Water Swimming 

PLEASE NOTE BECAUSE NUMBERS ARE LIMTED WE ARE UNABLE TO TRANSFER OR REFUND THE COST OF YOUR SWIM IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO MAKE IT. 

THIS SESSION WILL BE HELD IN THE RIVER WYE (due to algae at Bodenham Lake)

WE MEET AT THE PAVILION, CASTLE GREEN, HEREFORD, HR1 2NH.  

There is no car access to the Castle Green but you can park at Hereford Swimming Pool (5 minute walk) or in Cantilupe Street.

Numbers are limted to 20 due to safety.  

General guidance:

The open water swimming sessions will take place at Bodenham Lake on Friday evenings from 6pm to 7pm.  They are for members only.   

Hereford Triathlon Club ask that you must be a capable swimmer before you come to an open water session.  Please be honest about your swimming experience and let the coaches and volunteers know if you have not swum in a lake, a river or the sea before. You will be given a safety briefing before you enter the water. 

The lake is just outside the village of Bodenham.  The postcode is HR1 3JT.  The car park is a narrow lane off a C road so please check the location before going there for the first time.  

Please do not mention the venue on social media or post your data if the location is visible.  Our agreement with Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, who manage the lake, has a requirement that we do not promote the venue or make the location of our sessions known. 

For our members aged 16  to 18, we need written permission from your parent or guardian to say that you are able to attend the sessions. An email is fine. 

Your details will be stored securely in accordance with data protection regulations. 

We are not able to have any spectators or animals in the compound.  Should you wish to bring your children, pets, family or friends then they will have to watch from elsewhere on the side of the lake. 

Arriving at the lake

Please arrive at the compound from 5:50pm.  The gate won't be open ahead of time to make sure that nobody enters the lake before the safety cover is in place. 

Your number is on your email receipt from Entry Central. Please pick up the same numbered band which you will wear in the water.  Please return the band when you leave the compound.
