Devilla Forest 15k and 5k Trail Races

Carnegie Harriers are pleased to announce that for 2024 we will, again, be holding two races of approximately 15k (9 miles) and 5k (3.1 miles) respectively. The races are scheduled to take place on Sunday 11^th February 2024 with the 15k starting at 11:00 am and the 5k starting at 11:05 am. Both will be run under UK Athletics Rules and Licences from Scottish Athletics and will start and finish in the grounds of the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, Kincardine.

In the event that severe weather, or other external factors outwith our control, causes us to cancel the Devilla trail races on 11th February, we have contingency plans in place to hold the races on 18th February instead.  Refunds (less admin fees) will only be made if the races are completely cancelled for 2024.

You must be at least 17 years old to take part in the Devilla Forest 15k and 13 years old to take part in the Devilla Forest 5k.

The race entry fees for the 15k are £15.00 for Scottish Athletics Members and £17.00 for non-SA Members and £10.00 and £12.00 respectively for the 5k.

These races are strictly PRE-ENTRY ONLY, with NO ENTRIES TAKEN ON RACE DAY.

You will receive an e-mail to confirm your entry. Please check that your entry details are correct and let the the Race Director know if any details require changing. No amendments can be made after Wednesday 7th February 2024. In the unfortunate event that you have to withdraw from the race please let the Race Director as soon as possible.

You can collect your race numbers (which includes your timing chip) from 9.00am on the day from the Assembly Hall within the Scottish Police College.

REFUNDS

We do not offer refunds to entrants who are no longer able to run. Transfers can only take place with the Race Director’s permission. 

Before entering, please make sure that you are available to run on 18^th February should we need to reschedule the event to that date. Entry fees (less the EntryCentral admin fee) will only be refunded if the races are completely cancelled for 2024. There will be no deferrals.

RACE START POINTS:

Although both races start and finish within the grounds of the Scottish Police College, there are different start points for the 15K and 5K. Please follow directions from the Assembly Hall for your respective race, and be ready to assemble 10 minutes before your start time for your race briefing.

THE COURSES:

The Devilla Forest 15 follows a 'relatively flat' 15KM anti-clockwise loop of Devilla Forest, taking in a mix of forest roads, paths and tracks. The route skirts 3 lochs and goes through a variety of sheltered woodland and open ground. Ground conditions can vary from boggy to hard-packed.

The Devilla Forest 5 follows a similarly flattish 5KM anti-clockwise loop predominately on forest roads around the Moor Loch within Devilla Forest.

Devilla Forest is a working forest and, as such, any work taking place may affect part of the race routes.  In the event that beforehand, or even on race day itself, we need to amend either or both routes, for example if adversely affected by weather or underfoot conditions, any changes will be notified to entrants as soon as known. Please check our website (www.carnegie-harriers.co.uk) for the latest information.

Both routes are predominantly offroad but suitable for ordinary trainers or trail shoes (but not suitable for spikes). The courses will be marshalled and arrowed at all junctions. Safety is paramount and it is a condition of entry that runners must follow the instructions of the marshals at all times.

Any runner in the 15k race who does not reach the 7K water station within an hour will be timed out and withdrawn from race.

Dogs are not permitted in either race.

PARKING:
There is ample car parking within the the grounds of the Scottish Police College. Anyone attending the races (runners or supporters) must only enter the Scottish Police College by the main entrance and follow the marshals directions. They should not follow any Sat Nav directions through Devilla Forest as these routes are unsuitable for cars and upsets local residents. 

CHANGING FACILITIES:

Changing, showering and toilet facilities are available at the Recreation Hall. The organisers accept no responsibility for loss of clothing or equipment and it is the responsibility of runners to make sure they have all their belongings before leaving the race venue. 

REFRESHMENTS:

We will have water and post-race snacks at the finish for runners.

There is a Starbucks cafe, situated next to the registration area which will be open to all from 9.00am until 2.00pm

RACE PRIZES:

Excellent prizes will be awarded in all age categories. Prizes will be allocated strictly in age categories.
