The Ghost of the Miller’s Boy Trail Run is a 10km narrative midweek, night-time trail, starting and finishing at The Maypole PH in Thaxted. Walkers and runners are welcome, with walkers encouraged to opt for earlier start times if possible. Please choose a Start Time from the list of available Start Times when you sign up.

This is a self navigation trail race using a written route description, which will be issued to you on the day. There are no markings or marshals. No GPX. This is not a mass start event. You will be timed out and back in at the finish. 

£12 entry for affiliated runners, £14 for non-affiliated, plus 50p booking fee. The entry fee is non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by the organisers. The entry fee includes a drinks voucher from The Maypole (from selected list or a maximum value of £4.50). All profits from the event will be donated the ongoing restoration of John Webb’s Windmill (John Webbs Windmill CIO).

The route is largely off road on footpaths, bridleways and tracks around Thaxted, with some short sections on quiet roads. This run will take place in the dark and runners are required to carry a mobile phone and their own means of lighting and will be responsible for self-navigation.

As with all UKA events running with dogs is not allowed.

John Webb's Windmill is reported to have at least one ghost, including that of the miller’s boy. We hope that with the run being so close to Hallowe’en the ghostly child may make his presence known to runners as they pass the mill!
