Acknowledgement of the Risks of Motorsport. I understand that by taking part in this event I am exposed to a risk of death, becoming permanently disabled, or suffering some other serious injury and I acknowledge that even in the event that negligence on the part of the event organiser, any circuit owner, the promoter, the organising Club, the venue owner, or any individual carrying out duties on their behalf were to be a contributory cause of any serious injury I may suffer, the dominant cause of any serious injury will always be my voluntary decision to take part in a high risk activity.

I have read the above and acknowledge that my participation in motorsport is entirely at my own risk. I agree that I am required to register on arrival by “registering attendance” at the designated registration point.

Notes to applicants: The Clerk of the Course reserves the right to curtail or amend the programme as necessary. The Club policy is to give every competitor maximum track-time within the programme and conditions prevailing on the day.

Rider Ability Grouping

Customers must reserve a place based on their self-determined level of experience and their perceived ability.

Riders knowingly choosing an unsuitable group for their ability may result in loss of their place without refund.

Novice GROUP – attend odd track days

The Novice group is designed for those riders experiencing their first time on track, those who have little experience on track and happy running at a steady pace.

Intermediate GROUP – regular at track days

The middle group is designed for those who have more track experience and of a higher pace.

Advanced GROUP +501cc & -500cc

The advanced groups are by invitation only for those who have race experience and hold a race Licence. If you wish to be considered for this group email: Melvillemotorclub@gmail.com

Selection of Rider Ability Group:

The self-determination and selection of Rider Ability Group is a personal decision which should be approached by each applicant in an honest and objective manner taking fully into account your present skills set and experience.

Knowledge and experience of the actual bike to be ridden as well as the circuit, especially for novice and inexperienced Track Day riders.

Remember, our safety briefing will reinforce the rules and expectations of safe and responsible riding along with the implications and actions if these are not adhered to. This means paying full regard for the safety of all other riders in your selected group.

If your first application is not accepted due to all the places in the Group that you are choosing to join being already fully booked, then please do not re-apply in order to try to get accepted by selecting an inappropriate Ability Group. It is dangerous for Higher Ability riders to choose a lower Ability Group, as well as a Lower Ability Group rider to choose the Middle or Advanced level Ability Group if that is all the space that is available. Riders knowingly choosing an unsuitable group for their ability may result in loss of their place without refund.

If at the time of making this application you are/were unsure as to which Rider Ability Group to select, then please do get in touch with us, and we will be happy to engage in discussion that should enable you to select the most appropriate Rider Ability Group so that you can maximise your enjoyment of your track time on the day.

If any Rider feels uncomfortable with the Rider Group on the day, they should highlight this to the Event Administrator to enable formal discussion to take place.

Your safety on track is our top priority, and having the right set up & gear is essential for a safe and enjoyable experience.

Bike Preparation

Riding on track is a different discipline to riding on the road.

Tape up, take off or turn in your mirrors. You should not be able to see behind you in your mirrors, this is very likely to distract your attention and may cause you to lose control of your bike.... you should be focusing ahead of you not behind.

You should also tape up your speedo. Just use your rev counter.

Lower your tyre pressures. This is especially relevant for road bike riders. Your tyres will become much hotter when you ride on track than when you ride on the road, and this will cause the pressure to increase. The weather conditions and the speed at which you ride will play a part in how much you drop your pressures, so do take advice from more experienced track day riders.

It is also now compulsory that all machines must be fitted with a front brake level guard.

Tyre Warmers are allowed although there will be no electric on site – Silent generators are allowed

For those wanting to record their experience, all filming equipment must be securely mounted to the motorcycle using a purpose-designed bracket. Cameras or brackets are NOT permitted on the helmet, rider’s body, leathers, or motorcycle tank.

Trackday Clothing & Equipment

The following are essential for your safety and comfort:

A full leather 1-piece race suit or a fully zipped together 2-piece. The zip must encircle your torso, and there should be no gap between the jacket and the trousers when the zip is done up. If when you fully raise your hands it is possible to see any undergarments or there is a gap then this is unacceptable.

An ACU (gold sticker) safety helmet or equivalent which must be properly fastened. Open faced and flip helmets are not accepted.

Motorcycle gloves - Gloves must not be two short that when moving your arms a gap can appear between your gloves and leathers.

Motorcycle boots (no short or ankle boots permitted)

A full-length back protector is mandatory!  Alternatively you may wear leathers equipped with airbag technology.

You may consider wet-weather gear.

All equipment must be in good condition and fit for purpose. Our team will carry out safety checks and reserves the right to deny track access if any equipment does not meet the required standards.
