There are 2 triathlon distances a full distance and a short distance. The Aquabike is the perfect low impact activity for those averse to running or are injured and unable to run and the Bikeless Lochore Aquathlon offers a 3rd alterntive to the mix for those who like to swim and run. For those who wish to miss out on the swim we there is also a Duathlon option to choose.
The full distance triathlon, Aquabike and Aquathlon all enjoy a 1000 metre swim in the beautiful fresh water of Loch Ore with good safety cover within a friendly swimming environment. The swim will be 2 laps of 500 metres with an Aussie style beach exit after lap 1 to re-enter the swim for lap 2. As this involves open water swimming in Scotland wetsuits are required!
The Full distance event will this year count towards the 2023 cross triathlon rankings series - https://www.triathlonscotland.org/performance/rankings-series/
The full distance triathlon and Aquabike then take on an exciting off road bike covering a mixed terrain 13km cycle over a 2 lap course. Each lap takes in a descent of Harran hill. There will be some small technical sections (with rocks, roots and mud) but this will not to be to difficult or challenging (mainly blue with red sections such as the Harran hill descent).
The full distance triathlon and Bikeless Aquathlon take in a mixed terrain 5km course which circumnavigates the hilly Clune and an old ironage fort before coming back in by the loch side to the finish.
The short distance triathlon (which is a good entry level distance) enjoys a 500 metre swim in the beautiful fresh water of Loch Ore with good safety cover within a friendly swimming environment. The swim will be 1 lap of 500 metres with a beach start. As this involves open water swimming in Scotland wetsuits are required!
The off road bike will then take on a 7km cycle which includes a descent of Harran hill. There will be some small technical sections (with rocks, roots and mud) but this will not to be to difficult or challenging (mainly blue with red sections such as the Harran hill descent).
The run then takes in a mixed terrain 3km course with a shorter hill loop before before coming back in by the loch side to the finish.
Tristars 3 will enjoy the same 500m swim and 6km's of the bike route with a 2.4km mixed terrain run.
The Off-Road Duathlon enjoys a mixed terrain 5km run which circumnavigates the hilly Clune and an old iron-age fort before coming back in by the lochside.
The off-road bike will then take on a challenging 13km cycle over a 2-lap course. Each lap takes in a descent of Harran Hill. There will be some small technical sections (with rocks, roots and mud) but this will not be too difficult or challenging (mainly blue with red sections such as the Harran hill descent).
The second run then takes in a mixed terrain 3km course with a shorter hill loop before coming back in by the lochside to the finish.
Great facilities exist at the park with many attractions for non-competing family supporters.
Competitors will receive a post-race drink and snack along with a race memento. More information on prizes and sponsorship will follow in our pre-race information and on social media.
Thank you to our event sponsors Fife Properties and Active Root.
We will look forward to seeing you there.

The race will be run under triathlonscotland rules. You are responsible for knowing the rules and the course.

Health and Safety: This is an off road traiathlon bike and a trail run and you will be running on some uneven surfaces. Runners should come adequately prepared for uneven woodland trails, tarmac, and grass and mud surfaces.
All routes are extensively sign posted and marshalled. Safety is paramount and we expect bikers and runners to follow the advice of marshals at all times & take all reasonable precaution.
Please be courteous towards public dog walkers and other path users as they have equal rights and access to trails and paths in and around the Lochore Meadows Country Park.
Cancellation: In the event of extreme weather, water quality issues or other events outwith our control the race may be cancelled and re-arranged for a later date. If you are unable to make this date then a 25% refund can be made (you will need to email within a month of the event for this to processed). However, should the Lochore Meadows Country Park (or another 3rd party) not permit a resheduled date within a short timescale and the resource not be available or the weather still unpredictable to reschedule within a month from the scheduled date then we will have no choice but to cancel and offer no refund.
In the event of abandonment, postponement or cancellation of the event, we will have no responsibility for any costs incurred because of cancellation, including travel or accommodation costs.
If this event cannot go ahead due to COVID 19 restrictions and or a full lockdown scenario within the Sports Scotland guidelines then we will aim to defer your entry to a similar date in 2024. Should you not wish to be transferred into 2024 then you must email Scurry Events within a 14 days of the original scheduled 2023 date and we will arrange to refund your team entry less a 10% admin fee and Entry central fees.
Unfortunately, we cannot make changes to the above for any local area Covid lockdown scenarios and normal participant withdrawal / refund policy procedures will be in place. If a competitor has to self-isolate over the event date the above participant withdrawal / refund policy procedures will be in place.
Participant withdrawal / Refund policy: If for any reason after registration you wish to withdraw from the event: Any time up until 30 days from the date of the event you can login to entry central and organise a transfer with someone you know or email for a 50% refund. Between 30 days and 14 days from the event you can login to entry central and organise a transfer with someone you know or email for a 25% refund. No refunds will be given within 14 days. After racking your bike in transition you then have few yards round to the finishline and let those in the triathlon get on with the running while you celebrate your event.
Great facilities exist at the park with many attractions for non competing family supporters.
Competitors will receive a post race drink and snack along with a race memento. More information on prizes and sponsorship will follow in our pre race information and on social media.
Thank you to our event sponsors Fife Properties and Active Root.
Timetable:
To be confirmed in pre-race information but likely to be
3 swim waves followed by a Duathlon wave from 07.30am to 12.30pm - this will be updated shortly once triathlon scotland sanctioning has been passed and all event timings confirmed.
The race will be run under triathlonscotland rules. You are responsible for knowing the rules and the course.
For exmple: Drafting on the bike IS permitted, but not between genders (i.e. men can’t draft off women or vice versa).
Cross Bikes are permitted (but may not be the right choice. Up to you).
Any reports of competitors being abusive and/ or aggressive will result in an instant DQ. Please be nice to each other, and remember that the marshals are all giving up their day so that you can race.
In general, stick to normal ‘rules of the road’ – i.e. ride on the left, overtake on the right. If you need to walk, make sure you’re not on ‘the line’ and blocking other cyclists who are able to ride the section.
Health and Safety: This is an off road bike. All routes are extensively sign posted and marshalled. Safety is paramount and we expect bikers to follow the advice of marshals at all times & take all reasonable precaution.
In the event of this race being cancelled your entry will be automatically transferred to a rescheduled date. This date will be decided by Scurry Events (most likely the following week).
Participants who do not attend the event will not receive any form of refund/credit. During the event: no refunds will be given.
