Organiser's Description

CHASE THE SUNSET 🌅

Join us for a special evening session along Aberdeen Beach, where we'll combine speed, endurance, and a little friendly competition against one of the finest backdrops in the city.

We'll kick things off with an easy warm-up jog, followed by dynamic drills and activation exercises to get the legs moving and prepare for the work ahead.

The main session begins with a 1-2-3-2-1 minute pyramid, with 1 minute recovery between each effort. The shorter reps can be run at a stronger pace, while the longer efforts will challenge your ability to maintain rhythm and control as fatigue starts to build.

After a well-earned 3-minute recovery, we'll shift gears with 8 x 30-second fast efforts, each followed by 90 seconds recovery. These sharper bursts are designed to improve leg speed, running economy, and finishing strength.

To round off the workout, it's time for the feature event: Chase the Sunset. Runners will set off on staggered starts based on ability, all with one objective, to catch the athletes ahead before reaching the bridge. Whether you're chasing or being chased, expect plenty of excitement, tactical pacing, and fast running as everyone races towards the setting sun.

We'll finish the evening with a relaxed cooldown jog and a series of stretches to help recovery and leave you ready for your next run.

This session is suitable for runners of all abilities, with everyone working at their own effort level within a supportive and encouraging group environment. As always, expect expert coaching, plenty of encouragement, and a great atmosphere from start to finish.

Fast running, sea air, stunning views, and one final chase into the sunset. What better way to spend an evening? 🏃‍♂️🌅🏃‍♀️

There's ample free parking and our meeting point will be the parking area near the Aberdeen parkrun start (around 200m east of the Bridge of Don).

Please arrive ready to start at 6pm. The whole session, including warm-ups/cool down and exercises, lasts one hour.

TUESDAY 29 September 6.00pm to 7.00pm

Location: Aberdeen Beach Promenade, north end.

Cost: £6 per person.
