Organiser's Description

Aberdeen Beach Promenade Training Session

This outdoor endurance and speed-based session on Aberdeen Beach Promenade is designed to develop pacing, aerobic capacity, and teamwork. Using the natural out-and-back route, participants will build fitness through structured intervals while maintaining awareness of pacing and recovery.

Session Structure

Warm-Up
Participants will begin with a progressive warm-up along the promenade, incorporating light jogging, mobility work, and dynamic stretches.

Main Set 1: Variable Distance Intervals

  • 6 minutes, 4 minutes, 2 minutes (out & back format)
  • Each effort is performed as an out-and-back run, ensuring all participants start and finish at the same location.
  • Recovery: 90 seconds between each repetition

This set encourages athletes to manage pacing across longer and shorter efforts, developing aerobic endurance and control.

Main Set 2: Short Intervals

  • 8 × 45 seconds effort
  • Recovery: 75 seconds between reps

These shorter intervals increase intensity and focus on speed endurance.

Team Activity: 3-Person Relay
Participants will be grouped into teams of three to complete a relay challenge.

Cool Down
The session will finish with a gradual cool-down jog transitioning into stretching.
