Runners with a good base fitness (ability to run 10 Trail Miles) who want to explore off‑road, improve their mountain running skills, and enjoy a sociable, active weekend away.

Nestled on the hillside with sweeping views across the valley, Dinas Castle Inn offers a cosy bunkhouse, great food, and the perfect atmosphere to unwind after a day on the trails.


Weekend Fell & Trail Running Retreat – Itinerary

Friday

16:30 – Depart Plymouth Meet up and travel to the Black Mountains, arriving at Dinas Castle Inn around 19:30. Settle in, stretch your legs with a short shake‑out run, then enjoy relaxed refreshments and a chance to unwind. 

 

Saturday

08:00 – Breakfast Fuel up for a big day on the hills.

Two Running Options:

Option 1 – 12 Miles: Dragons Back to Hay-on-Wye A stunning point‑to‑point route over the iconic Dragons Back ridge, finishing in the book town of Hay-on-Wye. Enjoy some time browsing the local shops before a lift back to base.

Option 2 – 22 Miles: Full Circular Challenge A longer, more demanding loop taking in the Dragons Back and returning to Dinas Castle Inn under your own steam.

Evening – Dinner Out Head to a local pub for a well‑earned meal and a relaxed evening with the group.

 

Sunday

Breakfast A hearty start before the final run of the weekend.

11‑Mile Circular Run A scenic loop to round off the retreat, taking in classic Black Mountains terrain and views.

Depart for Devon Return to Plymouth feeling accomplished, refreshed, and full of mountain memories.
