A NEW PROM SESSION

It’s as flat as you can find in Aberdeen: the Beach Prom is ideal for some fast running, so let’s make best use of it. We have been here many times before, but this week we are tackling a completely new session which combines a set of mixed length repetition efforts.

Here’s the structure of the session:

2x4min (2min recovery)

2x3min (2min recovery

2x2min (1min recovery)

2x1min (1min recovery

4x30secs (1min recovery)

These will all be done on an out and back basis. So, rep 1 is 4 minutes out in one direction, jog/walk a 2 minute recovery, then turn round and run back the way you came. This means that the back markers at the end of the first rep are at the front for the second rep. Theoretically, everyone should finish every second rep together (or close to each other). This way, no-one is ever left behind.

We'll complete the evening with a slow cool down jog and optional post run exercises.

This is an all inclusive session suitable for all runners. No-one will be left behind.

It contains our usual winning formula which provides a challenging running workout within a fun and relaxed environment.

We'll kick off with a light jog,some gentle activation exercises and a few strides - all designed to get you properly warmed up before tackling the core part of the session. The workout finishes with a slow cooldown jog and optional post-run exercises.

We are a friendly group and always keen to help newcomers - so come along  - and bring a friend.

Coaching, encouragement and good advice will be on hand throughout.

There's ample free parking and our meeting point will be the parking area near the Aberdeen parkrun start (around 200m east of the Bridge of Don).

Please arrive ready to start at 6pm. The whole session,including warm-ups/cool down and exercises, lasts one hour.

Location: Aberdeen Beach Promenade, north end.

Cost: £6 per person.

Participants are strongly advised to consult a doctor before undertaking any strenuous exercise or training programme.
