Avon Valley Runners are proud to announce the Avon Valley Relay 2025 race which will take place on Saturday 19 July, race start 11.00 at Bradford on Avon Rugby Club and finishing at Trowbridge Rugby Football Club.

Entry on race day if places available

The route is a mix of quiet country lanes and tow path along the Kennet and Avon Canal. There are two AVR events running over the same 17 mile course at the same time, a solo event and a baton relay run as 4 person teams. For information the 4 legs run by the relay teams are: 

Bradford on Avon Rugby Club (4 miles)

Dundas Aqueduct (4.25 miles)

Tythe Barn Bradford on Avon (5.75 miles)

Somerset Arms Semmington (4.3 miles)

This is not a chip timed event. Each leg end has a water station and there will be first aiders along the course. The route is not guided but there will be limited signage with "marshals" at key points. Runners should familiarise themselves with the route (see https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/747655817 ). Free car parking and toilets are available at the start from 10.00 until 12.00 (Bradford on Avon Rugby Club, Ashley Lane, BA15 2HR (off the Winsley byepass)) and at the finish from 09.30 until 17.00 (Trowbridge Rugby Football Club, Hilperton, Trowbridge BA14 6JB (off the A361). 

Solo runners that are paid up AVR members (running in club colours) can enter at no cost. The fee for other solo runners (other clubs members and individuals) is £20.00 per runner. Entry on the day (if places available) is £30.00 (cash only) for solo runners.

The race is run under ARC permit No ARC/25/0298. Dogs are not permitted, this is due to the potential hazard on the often busy tow path. Those entering the solo race must be 18 years and above.

Prizes will be awarded to first: Male Solo (18 years and over), Female Solo (18 years and over), Open Team (18 years and over, any combination of male and female), Female Team (aged 18 years and over), Male Team (aged 18 years and over) Mixed Team (aged 18 years and over with 2 female and 2 male members), Junior Team (all below 18 years) Prizes will be presented at approx. 14.00 on race day at Trowbridge Rugby Football Club.

Solo runners should register at Bradford on Avon Rugby club by 10.30 on race day and be present at Bradford Rugby Club for the race briefing at 10.40. Race start 11.00.

On registration solo runners will get a number with a marker on the back their right hand. This will be checked by leg start/end marshalls along the route (make sure marshalls get your number. 

The race runs through beautiful country side. From the start, the route goes by quiet country roads, then down towards Warleigh before turning off and along the trail path by the river Avon to Dundas Aquaduct, along the tow path to Bradford on Avon and the Tythe Barn, along the tow path past Trowbridge to Semmington then turning back at the Somerset Arms finishing at Trowbridge Rugby Football Club.
