Organiser's Description
After the successful launch of my guide book; Dartmoor Trail and Fell Running, I have been asked to guide a few of the routes and more others not included , for those less confident in finding routes.
The Western Tors, between the rivers Tavy and Walkhampton are rough and windswept, but very accessible and runnable.
This 13 mile route, will climb out of the pretty village of Peter Tavy, past an old swimming pool, and up to these tors, starting with Cox Tor.
Much of this route will be on open moorland, some footpaths, and one small section of country lane.
There is over 2500 feet of climb, so the pace will not be quick.
This is a proper high moorland run and weather allowing, will supply a treat of views to the west, and many features and artifacts along the way.
Aiming for 3 hours.
Join me for a slow adventure with lots of places to take photos, learn about the local history of the area and chat about running on Dartmoor. I'm happy to sign any books on the day too and some will be available to purchase after the run also if you don’t already have a copy.
Parking is limited, and the road to the side of the church, just past the village hall, is best.
the village has a great pub, for those who fancy a pint after.
