The Route
The route has been officially measured and certified by Scottish Athletics. There are no mile markers on the route just plenty of signage! The route is point to point with 3 changeover checkpoints for teams plus 5 water stations (8 in total).
The race starts close to Our Lady of the Isles Statue in South Uist (Island #1), Outer Hebrides. The route follows the A865 through Benbecula (Island #2) onto North Uist (Island #3) to mile 18.5 at Clachan where you turn right onto to the A867 to Lochmaddy, finishing outside Lochmaddy Hotel. The course is on open roads with a mixture of single and double track.
Race Format
The race can be run as a Solo Full Marathon runner, as part of a team you create (Created Team), or have your name entered into the Community team draw. Community Team members are drawn at random to make up a Team, known as Community Teams, anyone can join the random draw, you don't need to be a Uist resident. If your random Community Team changes from the names drawn due to drop outs, the team moves into the Created Team category as it is no longer a totally random team.
There are prizes for Solo Marathon runners (incl Vet. categories), also various Created & Community team prizes.
Entry includes a technical t-shirt or vest, a medal and some great craic along the way!
