Organiser's Description
We would like to welcome you back to Dalry's 12k road race which is organised through the Community Development Hub and supported by the Dalry Sports Club as a community event for the local and surrounding areas.
Our main sponsor this year is DSM- Firmenich and our other sponsors will be advertised on the day of the race.
This year we are supporting our local Food larder and if you feel you could help we would love it if you could donate on the day, a tin (fruit, veg, soup etc) or dried food such as pasta or rice,
THE RACE
The race will be held on Sunday the 23rd of June 2024 at 10am and is limited to 200 entries. Entrants should be aged 17 and over on the day of the race and by entering you are confirming you understand that participation at this event is at your own risk.
THE ROUTE
The race starts at Dalry Public Park in North Ayrshire and runs up Blair Road, around Auchinskeith, along the walls of the Historic Blair House and back to the park. It is a hilly scenic route and uses some narrow roads therefore will be unable to accomodate walkers or dogs.
A map will be put up onto our local facebook page nearer the time. dalrycommunitydevhub.co.uk
The road will not be shut during the race so runners require to be vigilant. The route will be well marked and there will be Marshalls at road crossings and other key points along the route so please ensure you obey their directions. Please do not wear headphones during the race.
There will be a waterstation around 7kms into the race at the entrance to Blair House. Please also bring your own water as it may be a warm day.
The route is challenging and hilly and the terrain can vary throughout the race and as it is a road race we cannot rule out any pot holes or uneven surfaces so please run with due care.
There will be a sweeper and safety car at the back with a first aider and they can offer minimal first aid if required.
A first aider will also be based in the park.
RACE START
Race numbers can be collected from the Sports Pavillion in the park from 8.45am onwards. Please write your emergency contact on the back.
Perfect Timing are covering our event this year and timing chips will be on the bibs. If you do not finish the race for whatever reason, please inform one of the Marshalls on the route.
As the race has a narrow path at the beginning of the route it will be a staggered start and you will be placed depending on your estimated finishing times. Please follow instructions on the day.
FACILITIES
There are limited toilets within the sports pavillion and a drop a bag area, however this is not lockable and is left at your own risk.
We will have our BBQ again after the race with meat and vegan burgers for all runners.
We have the right to change start time or postpone the event to another date if necessary. If we do this we will not return entry fees or pay any expenses. If you withdraw from the race there will be no refunds or carry forward of entry.
PARKING
There are parking spaces within the park, at the top of Smith Street and some around the town. Several buses go through Dalry and the local Dalry Railway station is a five minute walk from the park.
PRIZES
There will be cash prizes for 1st and 2nd female, 1st and 2nd male as well as 1st and 2nd veteran male and female. There will be spot prizes on the day donated by local businesses.
All runners will receive a medal made by our local mens shed, goodie bag with bottle of water, a biscuit and a burger (vegan available) at the end of the race.
