Organiser's Description

This years annual Stichill 10k Run will take place at Mid Day on Saturday the 4th June 2022 at Stichill Village Hall, Stichill in The Scottish Borders.

On the day, registration will open at 10.30am in Stichill Village Hall. Please see information below that may be useful.

There is a Stichill 10k Run Facebook Page which contains further details about the run as well as information and photos from previous years.   https://www.facebook.com/stichill10k/

The minimum age for participation in the 10k run is 16 years of age.

Entry prices are £12.00, if entered before Midnight on Friday 3rd June via www.entrycentral.com. Entries are accepted on the day as per previous years, the price being £15.00 if entering on the day.

All finishers will receive a goody bag including a souvenir medal.

All proceeds form the Stichill 10k Run will be shared between the Stichill Village Childrens Club, Stichill Youth Club and Stichill Village Hall.

There are toilet facilities available in the Village Hall and any personal items can be left in the hall for the duration of the race (any valuables left at your own risk).

There are very few parking spaces in the village. There is a small car park in front of the arch when you come into the village from Kelso. Spaces are also available through the arch at the side of the dirt track road. Limited parking can also be obtained opposite the new houses behind the Village Hall or just opposite and up a bit from the Village Hall. If you can avoid parking toward the finish line it would be much appreciated.

The race will start on the Runningburn Road and there will be a meeting point on the grass area behind the Village Hall. Just before 12 noon everyone will make their way to the start area from the meeting point (less than 50m). This is to avoid everyone standing on the road for too long, and although this is a back road, it isn’t closed to cars.

The course will be well signposted, with arrow signs and marshalls at the junctions, kilometre markers and signs indicating water stations ahead. There will be 3 water stations, one at around 2 to 2.5km, the next one at just before 5km and a final one around 7.5km. Remember if it is warm to stay well hydrated.

The finish area will be at the front of the Village Hall. On the way back in you will go over the start line and continue through the village and turn left down the road to the Village Hall. You will see the finish line when you register so this should all be obvious on the day.

If you fancy a more leisurely day out instead of running the 10k then feel free to walk around the course. Those choosing this option will be setting off at 11.15am. Please just sign up as normal but indicate that you will be walking rather than running. The walkers, along with the marshalls, the volunteers on the water stations, some of the people from the houses we pass and spectators will hopefully offer lots of encouragement out on the course.

The prize giving will take place around 1.30pm'ish. There are trophies for 1st male and female and runner-up male and female and 1st male and female veteran.

After the race there will be a BBQ with burgers available to buy for anyone who is hungry.

The provisional results are usually on-line around mid afternoon of race day on sportstimingsolutions.co.uk with a link added to the Facebook page. The finalised results will be confirmed by lunchtime on Sunday.

If you have any further queries please let me know and we look forward to seeing you on the start line on the 4th June 2022 at 12 noon.
