Organiser's Description

COUNTESSWELLS and KINGSHILL

Our next Aberdeen run takes us, once again, and by popular demand, to the magnificent setting of Counteswells Forest on the western outskirts of the city. This is a venue enjoyed by generations of Aberdeen runners.

After a thorough warm-up, we'll head off in the direction of the famous Kingshill to test ourselves on some challenging uphill trails. We'll fire up the muscles - and the heart rate - with some faster efforts on the flatter woodland paths on the way there. It's a great environment for running and we are sure you'll enjoy it.

Hill sessions are among our favourites because they provide so many great benefits. You'll get a good cardio workout as well as building leg strength. On top of that, running up and down hills improves your technique and efficiency.

This will be an ideal session for all abilities.

Coaching, encouragement and good advice will be on hand throughout.

We will meet at the Countesswells Forest car park (£1 per hour charge). Google map location is shown on the main page. Or you can park on the residential streets opposite.

Please be there ready for a 6pm start. The session lasts one hour and includes our warm-up and cool down routines.

Cost: £6 per person.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES

For all Hidden Peak Running Group sessions, we will be following scottishathletics guidelines as shown in detail here:

Full details here:

https://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/clubs/club-support/coronavirus/

https://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Scottish-Athletics_Covid19_Phase-3-Return-to-Sport_Guidance-for-Coaches-v4-100920.pdf

Please read these carefully.

Some of the key points are:
A “field of play bubble” for all ages means that physical distancing can be suspended for the duration of the activity. At all other times physical distancing must be maintained for individuals aged 12+.
• Runners must not congregate with other athletes outside their bubble prior to, and
following, the coaching session.
• Coaches and runners should adhere to all restrictions that may be placed on a
public space by the owner of that space.
• Coaches should ensure they have carried out a standard risk assessment of any training
space or route, as they would normally, prior to the session taking place.
• Coaches and runners should ensure they carry out standard safety procedures
(e.g. phones, route planning etc) when accessing ‘wild’ public spaces.
• Be aware of other members of the public using the same space you are training in. The
group should be briefed on how they run together in a way that respects physical distancing, and which does not cause unnecessary risk or anxiety to members of the public.

The guidelines could be reviewed at any time so the situation could change.

You must not attend one of our sessions if you:
• Have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
• Have been overseas to a country on the quarantine list or exposed to someone with COVID19 in the last 14 days.
• Have COVID-19 symptoms (self-isolate for 10 days) or are feeling unwell.
• Have been told to self-isolate as part of the contact tracing measures in place.

COVID GUIDELINES

We are adhering to Scottish Government, Sportscotland and scottishathletics guidelines.

In summary, these are:

Training groups and sizes:

All training sessions should be delivered and/or set by a UKA licensed coach (Athletics Coach/Level 2

+) or leader and delivered in accordance with the UKA Coaching Code of Practice.

Whilst the guidelines have been relaxed (as outlined below) on the field of play, scottishathletics strongly recommends that physical distancing should be adhered to on the field of play whenever possible, thus reducing the risk of virus transmission.

A “field of play bubble” for all ages means that physical distancing can be suspended for the duration of the activity. At all other times physical distancing must be maintained for individuals aged 12+.

Athletes must not congregate with other athletes outside their bubble prior to, and following, the coaching session.

Adult ‘group’ sport or activity refers to adults, who take part in organised sport or physical activity, where the number of participants is larger than allowed under normal household rules.
