We are Dunblane Runners – a small and friendly running club with the aim of bringing runners from around the Dunblane area and of all abilities together. We are affiliated to Scottish Athletics.
We have come a long way since the beginning, we now have a qualified Jog Scotland coach who leads beginner runs twice a week and we are working to get a group of our more experienced runners through the Scottish Athletics Level 2 Certificate in Running Fitness (CiRF). We are excited about the future of the club!
We also help to support the success of the Dunblane Road Race which is held every year by providing volunteers to marshall and through participation.
We meet officially 3 times a week:
Monday is our training run: Suitable for all abilities, we always have a tail runner to ensure noone gets left behind and we lead you around the first 5k with short breaks to regroup so you know where you are going. If you wish to extend it a further 5k then you are promoted to run the second loop at 'tempo' pace to get the most from the session.Ready to leave at 6.30pm from the Dunblane Centre.
Thursday is our interval session: again, suitably adaptable to all abilities. We begin with a warm up jog to different locations where we do a variety of sessions such as hill sprints, sprints, relay loops and so on. We try to keep it fresh and alternate each week. Ready to leave at 6.30pm from the Dunblane Centre.
Saturday is our "Social" run, and we have a get together for a coffee at Tilly's after running. The Saturday session is structured to suit all abilities.
Monday night is suitable for everyone, with different pace groups. Thursday's are usually more structured sessions, but suitable for all abilities.
We have a broad range of ages and abilities in our club. At our Saturday sessions, we have a Meet & Greet set up where one of our members will welcome you and run with you, introducing you to some of our members who would likely be running at the same pace as you. Sessions generally last 30 – 60 minutes and will vary with time of year, weather and who is taking part. We have runners from walk / run level up to, and more than, 7 mins per mile pace. Nobody gets dropped or left behind at any of our sessions.
