Cyclo-Cross Coaching Weekend

14-15 September, 2024 at Picky

Come and join one of Scotland's leading cyclo-cross coaches, Keith Stocker, for an action-packed and fun-filled weekend of cyclo-cross coaching and races. 

Keith is a highly experienced coach and leads on the Scottish National programme of cyclo-cross coaching for youth and junior riders.

"My approach to coaching has always been founded on two underlying principles; fun and simplicity. Creating a relaxed, engaging and enjoyable environment allows you to focus on your progress. After all, learning shouldn’t be stressful". 

This is Keith's second Orkney CX Weekender visit and follows on from the success of 2023. Courses are very popular so please avoid disappointment and sign-up now.

Saturday 14^th

VENUE: KIRKWALL SPORTS CENTRE (PICKY) - Upper Fields

MORNING SESSION 0930 - 1215

0930 - 1045 P2-P4 JUNIOR DEVELOPER CYCLO-CROSS

75 mins (Max Number 15) £4.00

For all juniors P2-P4 who are new to cyclo-cross or for those with some experience wanting to gain more confidence. Includes free entry into race on Sunday.

1100 – 1215 P5-P7 JUNIOR DEVELOPER CYCLO-CROSS

75 mins (Max Number 15) £4.00

For all juniors P5-P7 who are new to cyclo-cross or for those with some experience wanting to gain more confidence. Includes free entry into race on Sunday.

AFTERNOON SESSION 1245 – 1800 

1245 – 1405 P2-P4 JUNIOR CYCLO-CROSS PROGRESSION 

80 mins (Max Number 12) £4.00

For P2-P4 juniors with some Orkney cyclo-cross experience from either previous coaching or racing. Includes free entry into race on Sunday. This session will be more challenging with an emphasis on skill development.

1420 – 1540 P5-P7 JUNIOR CYCLO-CROSS PROGRESSION

80 mins (Max Number 12) £4.00

For P5-P7 juniors with some Orkney cyclo-cross experience from either previous coaching or racing. Includes free entry into race on Sunday. This session will be more challenging with an emphasis on skill development.

1600 – 1800  COME N’ TRY CYCLOCROSS (Adults & Youth 12+)

120 mins (Max Number 15) £4.00

For all those new to cyclocross or just wanting a freshen up. Come and join in on one of the best things you can do on two wheels. This session can also be combined with the adult/youth session on Sunday morning for those riders wanting a 'bigger' CX experience. Includes free entry into race on Sunday.

Sunday 15^th

VENUE: KIRKWALL SPORTS CENTRE (PICKY) - Upper Fields

0900 – 1230 – Adults & Youth CX Coaching (12+) Fundamentals and Progression Master Class

3.5 hours (Max Number 15) £12

For those that have already tried cyclo-cross and/or have completed the Saturday Come 'n Try session. This session will take you to the 'next level' of CX mastery, refreshing CX fundamentals and looking to challenge the more experienced riders with skill progression. The content of this session will be 'rider driven' allowing the participants to focus on areas important to their CX development. Includes free entry into race on Sunday afternoon.

1300 – 1400 – Adults and Youths Race (12+)

(Registration & 30 minute race) FREE

1430 – 1530  - P2- P4 Race and P5- P7 Race

(Registration and 15 minute race) FREE

DETAILS

All those entered into any coaching session will automatically gain entry into the race day on Sunday afternoon free of charge.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

A fully functioning bike (preferably mountain or cyclocross bike but a road bike or hybrid with tyres that have sufficient tread to ride off-road with will suffice)
