Organiser's Description
WELCOME!
We are a well-established, friendly running club lucky enough to be based in central Hereford, with easy access to the fantastic countryside on our doorstep.
We meet at the Halo Leisure Centre on Holmer Road, at Castle Green and at many other venues places in deepest Herefordshire when the mood takes us.
Training evenings occur every Monday and Wednesday and vary from track to hills, trail, road and more. Our Run Leaders will guide you through our training schedule. We also meet most Sundays for a social run - unless the Cross Country race season gets in the way.
We welcome runners of all abilities - from fast to very slow and everything in between.
We organise a series of races to include the Muddy Woody, The Crocodile 8 Race, the Bearwood Trail 10k and a couple of cross-country races. We participate in the summer and winter cross-country series and our members get involved in all sorts of racing including fell, ultra, mountain and road - you are very welcome to get involved. All members are asked to help at one or more of our club races - but don't worry, it's fun, and you won't be left alone.
Club members come from all over Herefordshire and across the border into Wales. We are open to all ages over 18. We have a great mix of people in the club - we pride ourselves on being open, relaxed and friendly.
We have a pretty straightforward code of conduct here which we ask you to sign up to - it's sensible stuff designed to ensure everyone is treated with respect.
Our aim is simply to get the most out of our sport - socially and competitively. Come and join us – we promise a warm welcome.
A note from our Chairs and Committee:
Dear Members,
As the new year approaches, we would like to thank you for being part of the Wye Valley Running Club and for the energy, support, and community spirit you bring.
With the start of 2026 comes the annual renewal of club memberships. (Note: New members who joined from September onward will carry on into 2026.) We would like to inform you that the annual membership fee will increase from £25.00 to £35.00.
A significant portion of this cost is allocated directly to England Athletics. When we last raised membership fees to £25, only £10 was paid to England Athletics for each member; over the years, this has steadily increased and, from April next year, will be £23 per member. The remainder of the membership supports the wide range of training sessions, racing opportunities, and social events we provide throughout the year.
Your membership also contributes to our hardship fund, which ensures that anyone needing subsidised membership or club kit can still participate fully. This is an important part of our commitment to keeping Wye Valley Running Club open, inclusive, and supportive for all.
We continue to strive for a warm and welcoming environment, offering a variety of running and social activities for every level and interest. We look forward to welcoming you again in 2026 and to your continued participation in making our club the vibrant community it is.
Thank you,
The Co-Chairs and Committee
