Founded in 2005 by a group of local thrill-seekers, the WASC is a thriving and supportive community club of like-minded folk interested in sharing skills and experiences in the great outdoors.

Each month, WASC organises a weekend locally or further afield, and we plan a range of activities to explore that area by land, water or underground. The club has a range of equipment for watersports, caving and climbing which enables us to make the most of the area. We can offer a range of different sports at entry level, including kayaking, caving, biking and hiking.  We encourage you to get involved in the planning of WASC weekends by thinking of activities you would like to try out, liaising with others and making things happen!

When you join, you will get access to our app and chat group, where you will be able to share ideas with other members, and plan your own activities outside of WASC weekends.    

Please note that our members are members, not instructors, and the types of events that we put on depend on who our current members are. However, if there is a sport that you would like to progress in, at WASC you will probably meet others who are keen to develop their skills too, and so together you can get out and train together and organise instruction at group rates. 

 We aim to make outdoor sports as accessible to people as possible so we aim to make events low cost. There are no membership requirements; the club is open to novices and seasoned adventurers alike. Membership is open to adults and families. Under 18s may only join as part of a family and may only attend club events with a parent present.

Membership Costs

All memberships expire on 31st December. We usually send out a renewal reminder in November.

PLEASE NOTE: Adults from the same household MUST register individually unless an U18 from the same household is also being registered at the same time.

When you sign up, you will have the option of taking out British Canoeing and British Mountaineering Council club affiliate membership. You must select these options if you intend to take part in watersports and/or climbing with WASC. British Canoeing membership is paid for as part of your WASC membership. BMC membership costs extra.
