Bob Clift Cheshire Cycleway Ride - 50 miles has now closed and you will not be able to sign-up for it. Please check the Organiser's Description for any organiser updates.
This event is in a testing state, and is not open for public sign-ups until the organiser has launched it.

Organiser's Description

Created by Bob Clift, these rides were established in 1986.  This year the event gives you the opportunity to cycle 50 miles through the beautiful Western Cheshire countryside.  The course initially visits Delamere Forest and Whitegate prior to Bunbury for lunch; then onward to  Brindley, west of Nantwich, to return past  historic Beeston Castle.

The start/finish is at Duddon Village Hall  Willington Road  Tarporley  CW6 0EZ where there is ample free parking.

This event is established for small groups of self led riders;  it is not a race or a sportive.  There is no sag wagon.  If you get into difficulties or cannot finish the ride----contact the event organiser on the phone number given on the route sheet.  We shalll do our best to help---but are unlikely to be in a position to provide a rescue service.

The minimum age for entries is 10 years old on 01/01/2024.  Any rider under the age of 18y on this date must be accompanied by a parent or carer throughout the ride.

A route sheet and GPS file are to be sent to you shortly after the closing date on June 17.  (No entries accepted beyond this or on the day). The route sheet contains a wealth of information---especially regarding your safety.  It is essential that you read this route sheet---even if you intend to ride by following GPS.

Lunch---Beans on Toast/cake/tea or coffee---is provided at Tillys, Bunbury at the 25m half way point.  (They are opening exclusively for this event---normally closed on Sunday).  The cost of lunch  is included in the entry fee.  There is to be a marshal in place here to check your safe progress and validate your lunch claim.

Additional refreshments are available at Whitegate (15 miles;  just over bridge with traffic lights; 100 yards on L)  and possibly at Beeston Castle (37m on L)---neither included in entry fee.

Booking in  to the Hall starts at 09:15. Please do not arrive any earlier as the car park gates will be shut and there is not a lot of room to wait on the road.

Free tea/coffee/biscuits provided at start and finish  Small groups of up to 8 riders maximum are to be released on to the course  by a Marshall from 10:00 onwards.  This is to avoid clogging up the lanes and to stagger arrivals at lunch.  Suggest that if you wish to ride with colleagues, you pre-select groups in the Hall.

At Chester and North Wales CTC we welcome cyclists of all ages and abilities. You do not have to be a member of Cycling UK (formerly CTC) although we encourage you to join our national organisation Cycling UK.

The route is all on road, not closed ones so enjoy this winding tour of our wonderful Cheshire lanes and views.

Following your entry you will receive an email confirmation.  Route details and joining instructions will be emailed to you approximately 7 days before the event.  It is not possible to post information out.

We look forward to seeing you there
