Cheltenham Tri in the Park is Cheltenham Triathlon Club's family friendly off-road super-sprint triathlon set within the beautiful boundaries of Cheltenham’s Pittville Park…

An indoor pool swim followed by an off-road cycle and run this triathlon is ideal for families, those who are new to the sport and seasoned triathletes looking to try something a little bit different!

New for 2017 - Tri in the Park will be using CHIP TIMING! 

Our Junior Triathlon returns in 2017! 

The junior event will take place before the adult race - Cheltenham Tri in the Park will be perfect for families wishing to give triathlon a go!

 
Event Information: 
Chip timing. All race finishers will receive a finishers medal, refreshments and a goody bag!
Car parking, changing, lockers, showering and refreshments will be available on site.

Start Times and Course:
Maps of the 2016 course layout is included in the 2016 race information pack that is on our website. An up to date race information pack with the all important race start times and detailed course information will be emailed to all competitors (when online entry closes) 1 week before race day.

Age Group and Team Prizes:
Age group certificates for 1st, 2nd 3rd places with prizes for the winners of each category. We'd like to encourage families and friends to enter so we're offering fun Novice Team Prizes for teams of work colleagues, friends and families. Please ensure team members all submit the team name on the entry form to be included! (Further information, team prize categories and rules will stated in full in the entrant information pack)  
 
  
Entry:
We are offering an earlybird discount for anyone who signs up before 1st March 2017!

 

At registration non BTF members will be issued with a day license. BTF members are entitled to a £3 refund upon presentation of a valid BTF membership card. Present your photo ID membership card when you register and you will be refunded the price of the BTF Day Licence that was included in your entry fee.

 
Once entry is made if you are unable to compete we will be happy to hold payment and offer entry to the next race next year. Identities are carefully checked at event registration and anyone attempting to take another person's place on race day will not be permitted to race.
 
Charity:
We're proud to announce that this year Cheltenham Triathlon Club will be supporting SANE Mental Health Charity Each year we donate at least £2 of each of our competitors entrance fee to a charitable organisation. SANE was chosen by one of Cheltenham Triathlon Club's founding members, who has experienced and understands the valuable work, help and support this non-profit organisation offers. Collection tins will be available on race day should anyone like to make further donations!

 

The Details:

This event is limited to 125 competitors so early entry is highly recommended!

Please note: ALL child entrants MUST be able to swim the distance specified in their age group category confidently.

We will ask that children must be able to exit the pool, find and collect their bicycle (without outside assistance) and confidently cycle/run unaided - whilst counting their own laps  - in order to compete. We will of course have marshals on hand to direct, support, cheer on and aid the children whenever needed!

Please note that children will race in their age group categories and races will start at staggered times. Youngest racing first.

The minimin age for the Junior Triathlon is 8 years old at 31st December 2017.

These age groups are based upon the age of a competitor on the 31st December 2017. For example, if the child’s 13th birthday is in December they will race in Tristar 3 : 13-14 years category - even though they are only 12 years old at the time of racing in July.

The Youth Category competitors aged 15/16 years will race in the adult race. Please sign up to the Tri In The Park Adult Triathlon. 

The Course:
 
The Junior Triathlon will follow a different course to our adult race. It will remain completely off-road, following an open flat lapped route. The children's race will have a separate transition area to the adult race. Any parents participating in the adult race may register and set up their own transition at the same time as the child.
 

The Details:

Registration takes place in the leisure centre lobby with compulsory race briefing for competitors poolside 10 mins before start time.

The Tristars Youth Category will race with adults on the adult course. The minimum age is 15 years at 31st December 2017.

The course:
 
Swim: The swim will be 400m (12 lengths) in the leisure centre's 33m heated pool.

Bike: The 10km cycle is entirely off road circumnavigating the perimeter of the park. The course does not require technical mountain bike expertise (or bravery!) however an off-road, mountain or hybrid bike is recommended. The course will be 5 laps around the pitch and putt golf course. 

Run: The single lap run is off-road and mixed terrain (mainly grass) it is approx 2.5km around the park and will be an enjoyable end to the race!
