Glasgow Triathlon Club would like to make the event inclusive to all participants. In order that we can understand if you require any additional support, we would be grateful if you could read the following question:

Do you have a long term illness, health problem or impairment that limits your daily activities?

If the answer is ‘Yes’ we would be grateful if you could contact the Event Organiser, so we can better understand your needs and help you participate in the race.

Unfortunately, the run course is not suitable for para-triathletes using racing wheelchairs.

The Big Bobble Hats Bishopbriggs Sprint Triathlon

Welcome to the Big Bobble Hats Bishopbriggs Sprint Triathlon.

The event will take place at the Bishopbriggs Leisuredrome on Sunday, April the 28th, 2024.

The Sprint event involves:

  • A 750m (30 lengths) swim in the 6 lane 25m pool. Lane order is sorted based on the estimated swim times submitted by participants. Transition is within the Leisuredrome car park.
  • A 20km cycle on closed roads.  On leaving transition and after a modest initial climb (400m), there is a flat bike loop out into the countryside, returning to transition at the Leisuredrome (4 laps).
  • A 5km run, which is a loop along the picturesque towpath of the Forth and Clyde canal coming back to the Leisuredrome for the finish.

On the entry form, you will be asked to provide an estimated swim time. It is not unusual for people competing in a pool-based triathlon for the first time to "guess" their swim time. Please be reassured, we will accept changes to your estimated swim time up until April 19th. Your enjoyment, and that of your fellow competitors is greatly enhanced if you are in the correct swim heat.

Please select the race category being entered: Female category or Open category.

Only people who are female sex at birth are eligible to compete in the Female category. All individuals including transgender people are eligible to compete in the Open category. Responses to this question will enable event organisers to allocate competitors into the correct race category, as required under the British Triathlon Transgender Policy effective 1 January 2023. This can be read here and provides more information regarding race categories and eligibility.
