William Wallace Running Festival
Organiser's Description
The William Wallace Running Festival returns to Stirling on Saturday 10 October 2026, bringing together runners of all abilities for a unique celebration of running, Scottish history and the landscapes surrounding Stirling. The festival offers four challenges: the Braveheart 10km, the Wallace Warriors 1-mile Fun Run, the 50km Ultra and the 70km Ultra, with the longer distances available to solo runners or relay teams of three or six.
At the heart of the festival are routes steeped in history and spectacular scenery. The 10km follows a fast, flat course from the Stirling area, with views of the Wallace Monument, the Ochil Hills, the River Forth and historic Stirling Bridge. The 50km and 70km ultras take runners on mixed-terrain circular routes through historic Stirling, passing landmarks including the Battle of Bannockburn, Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Cambuskenneth Abbey, Bridge of Allan and the Ochil and Campsie Hills. The ultras feature aid stations, relay changeovers, GPS live tracking, finishers’ medals, race T-shirts and a festival-style finish, while the 1-mile event provides a traffic-free introduction to the festival for younger runners.
Whether you’re targeting a fast 10km, taking on an ultra-distance challenge or bringing the family along for the fun run, the William Wallace Running Festival combines memorable running with Scotland’s remarkable heritage and scenery. With limited places across several events, participants can choose their own challenge and experience a distinctive race day in and around Stirling.
