60th Tom Scott Memorial Road Races

31 Mar 2024

This Festival is in a testing state, and is not open for public sign-ups until the organiser has launched it.

Organiser's Description

The 60th Tom Scott Memorial Road Races will once again see hundreds from far and wide travel to Strathclyde Park to take part in one of two races, the 10 Mile Championship race and the Round the Loch.

Both races take place over a fast, flat route on the paths around the Strathclyde Park loch.

The 10 Mile race is notoriously fast, frequently recording some of the best 10 Mile times in the UK for the calendar year and featuring prominently in the end of year rankings. The 10 Mile race has hosted the Scottish National 10 Mile Championships for many years, and we are pleased to confirm we have once again been awarded this status in 2024.

The Round the Loch is a run over approximately 6 kilometers dedicated to those who prefer a slightly shorter distance - from serious club runners to those simply looking for their next challenge!

We look forward to welcoming you to Strathclyde Park on Sunday 31st March 2024!

scottishathletics members who would like to be eligible for individual or team awards at National / District level MUST PROVIDE A VALID scottishathletics Membership Number (SA Number)

Note: A scottishathletics coach (SC) or official (SO) number is not valid, an SA number is required.

Any entrants hoping to earn a team prize must ensure that they provide their club name when entering. If any entrant joins or switches to another club after entering, then it is the responsibility of the entrant to advise race organisers of this change, before the entry closing date.

By entering the race, you agree to abide by these conditions of entry and any instructions given you by the organisers or officials of the 60th Tom Scott Road Races. Due to race and course conditions, we regret that we are unable to accept entries from walkers, wheelchair athletes or runners with baby joggers.

Medical Condition

This race is over ten miles which is an extreme test of an individual’s physical and mental strength and has with it the potential for serious injury. All participants are strongly advised to consult their doctor prior to undertaking any exercise programme or running event. Weather in early April can be very changeable and entrants could be exposed to risks from dehydration. It is the responsibility of all participants to ensure that they are medically fit to participate in the race.

The race comprises of an approximately 6k / 10 Mile route set in a flat and fast location around the Strathclyde Park loch. Due to the course's characteristics it's not uncommon to see a high number of new Personal Best times, whilst the leading male and female athletes typically feature towards the top end of the British end of year rankings.

This year, we will return to the "classic" route around Strathclyde Park, the popular route used between 2004 and 2022.

Sections of the route utilise park roads and thus traffic cones will be laid out to ensure safe passage for all runners. All participants are strongly instructed to remain to the correct side of the traffic cones at all times, for their own safety.

The closing date for entries will be midnight on Thursday 7th March 2024.

The 10 Mile race has an entry limit of 500 whilst there is a limit of 100 for the Round the Loch.  Please note we do not accept entries on the day of the race or any late entries

Entrants should note that this event relies on the permission of our hosts, and that this permission may come under review at their discretion at any time.

Entry fees are non-refundable, except in the circumstances that the event is cancelled or postponed. Should the event be postponed for any reason, race fees will be held over for a place on the due date, however, if entrants are unable to participate on the revised date, they may apply for a refund of their entry fee. The organisers’ liabilities in respect of costs and expenses incurred by entrants as a result of cancellation or delay will solely be the entry fee paid to take part in the event.

Alternatively, the athlete may choose to defer their entry for the following year's race. Deferments must be requested prior to the closing date. Race numbers will be posted after the closing date, so deferments (or transfers to other athletes) requested after this date will not be possible.

Note: prizes for teams will only be accepted for club teams that are registered with Scottish Athletics.

All athletes who win prizes are asked to attend the presentation at approximately 12 midday.

The organiser reserves the right to close entries early should the entry limit be reached or due to any restrictions imposed by any government of authority with jurisdiction over the event or venue.
