STROMNESS SPRINT TRIATHLON -  Saturday 06th July 2024, Start 11.30hrs

Race Details

This event will be staged as a Test for the planned 2025 Orkney World Island Games Triathlon albeit we will only be offering the Sprint distance.

Our course HQ will be in the Warehouse Buildings off Ferry Road, Stromness, KA16 3AA which is 2 minutes walk from the Northlink Ferry Terminal. Ample car parking is available 400 metres down Ferry Road.

Our race will begin with a deep water start from the Marina slipway leading to a Transition area sited in the Marina-side car park then off on a fast, undulating 3-lap Bike course into Orkney main island, circulating back to the Transition area on each loop. Following T2, competitors will run out along Ferry Road onto a stunning 2.5k, 2-lap course.

The Finish is situated adjacent to the Swim Exit close to the Transition area.

Team/relay entries are actively encouraged.

The minimum age cut off is 15 during 2024

This event will NOT be chip-timed.

Race details:

Swim
750 metre open water swim with a deep water mass start.

Cycle
A 3-lap, 8Km circular course with racing on mainly Open Roads (giving 24Km total distance).

Run
A 2-lap, 2.5Km course taking you through the narrow, picturesque streets of Stromness (giving 5Km in total).
