DATE: The Beach Race will take place on Sunday 3rd September 2023 at 10.30 am

REGISTRATION: Race number will be issued from 09:15 to 10.15 on the day of the race at Civerino Slice , 47-49 Figgate Lane Edinburgh EH15 1HJ at outside tables on promenade

RACE ROUTE: This is a similar  route as last year and the race will be all on the sand. Approximate length is 4 miles. The start is on the beach immediately below the registration. You will head east along the beach, turn at a marker at the pumping station at the Joppa end, run back along the whole length of the beach to turn round a marker below the Cat and Dog Home with the finish line back where you started. The race is timed to coincide with near low-tide. You will have to either climb over the groynes or be prepared to run round the seaward end - you may get your feet wet.

CHARITY: All net sales proceeds raised from the race will be donated to this year's chosen charity - Trussel Trust - provides network of food banks to fight UK poverty

RACE ENTRY FEE: Online Entry Fee is £8.00 for SA members and £10.00 for non-SA members. The race is limited to 225 entries. Online Entry closing date is 11.59pm, 1st September 2023. Entry is restricted to athletes who are 16 and over on race day. Unless the race limit has been reached, entries will be available on the day at £8 for SA members and £10 for non-SA members.  Race Numbers are non-transferable and not refundable. No-one will be allowed to compete without one.

PRIZES: Prizes will be awarded at approximately 11:15 am at the promenade beside registration. Prizes will be limited to one per person. The categories: Open Male: 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Open Female: 1st, 2nd, 3rd. First Vet (40 up to 50), First SuperVet (50 up to 60) and First Hypervet (60 and over) Male and Female

KIDS' FUN RUN: There will be a Kids' Fun Run on race day starting at 10.00 am. Further details can be found on our website at http://www.portobellorc.co.uk

Car parking is available at Tumbles (EH15 1DR) and public car park in adjacent Bridge Street. Allow sufficient time to get to registration at Portobello Beach Bistro. The event is ideal for travel on foot. by bike, or by bus. Portobello is served by Lothain buses 21, 26,42,45,49 and EastCoast124. Brunstane train station is 20-25 minute walk from promenade

Toilets  are available about 200m west along the promenade. There are no available changing facilitites but we will provide a safe bag-drop

You will find water, snacks and a cake stand at the finish. Portobello promenade has a number of cafes and restaurants to let you have a proper day out at the seaside.
