This is the payment page for the 2023 Portland  trip.

Join us at the UK's best sport climbing location! Portland's World Heritage Limestone cliffs are a great place to progress your climbing. Portland is suitable for all climbing abilities and the Jurrasic Coast is just breathtaking. There are over 900 routes with varying difficulty along the white cliffs and the views are spectacular. Approaches range from 10-25minutes with routes up to 30m!

ACCOMMODATION:
We have exclusively booked the YMCA youth hostel in Portland DT5 2AN.
The hostel has 8 bedrooms with 2 single bunk beds and 2 family rooms with a double bed and a single bunk above. (Sleeps 22 total).

Bedding is provided but you will need to bring your own towels. Towels are also available to hire on request. For more details on the hostel and it's facilities see: http://www.portlandymca.org.uk/

Disclaimer: We do not have mountain qualifications, you are choosing to come of your own volition to be around peers within the climbing club. Our climbing trips are simply about doing awesome outdoor activities and hanging out with cool people! Please ensure you are fully independent within your climbing abilities. If you feel you need to discuss this please shout out to us.

Climbing tuition is not included, however, we have lots of fully experienced climbers within ESC and we are happy to share our knowledge and expertise and support your climbing needs. We normally are able to accomodate some novices on our trips but message ahead before booking just to check in with us. 

Even if you're an experienced climber come meet new friends and challenge yourself on rocks you may not have climbed before.

Friday 9th: Arrivals and Accommodation. Takeaway, meet and greet. Casual drinks and games. Settle into accommodation. Arrive early for the best bunk spots!

Food options include: Jalopy Pizza, Rays Fish and Chips, Golden Island Chinese Takeway, Flavour of Asian Indian Takeway. 

Saturday 10th:

Morning: Breakfast. Sugar Loaf Cafe is within 1 minute walk or there are other cafes nearby.

Day: First full day of climbing! Where the fun starts. Beginners Crag such as "The Cuttings" or "The Bower" may be an option. This will be dependant on the weather forecast. Ensure you have plenty of food and water for a full day of climbing.

Evening: After a full day of climbing we will enjoy a meal at the local pub. Place TBC. Here we can reflect on the day, brag about our achievements and generally have a laugh.

Sun 11th: 

2nd Day of Climbing. We will aim to go to a different crag to add variety to your climbing holiday. Crag options include: Blacknor Central, Blacknor Beach, Blacknor North and Battleship Edge. If there is anything you would like to achieve or progress with in terms of your climbing please shout out and we can hopefully help. Again please ensure you have enough food and water for a full time of climbing. At the end of the day we will all cheer for a wonderful weekend of climbing and say our goodbyes :(

If weather is poor there are options to do some water sports including canyoneering and kitesurfing!

If wishing to book onto this weekend It is expected that you bring and use your own climbing equipment including a helmet.
