Podfather Stirling 10k with 3.5k and 2k fun runs

08 Sep 2024

Organiser's Description

Central AC are delighted to welcome you to the 23rd running of the Podfather Stirling 10k, with two fun run events - a 2k for ages 5-9 year olds and a 3.5k for ages 10-14 year olds.

This year's event will also be the Scottish Athletics 10k Road Race Championships.

2k and 3.5k fun runs:  9.20am

10k:  10.15am

Run on our traditional course, our super fast route offers fantastic views of Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument and the Ochil Hills. Each year we see a large number of finishers running their personal bests and that makes the race very attractive to runners from all over Scotland! Despite the super fast times recorded each year, our race is not only for the speedy runners! It doesn’t matter if you run 30mins or 1h30mins, everyone is welcome and the last finisher will get just as big a cheer as the first finisher! Our aim is to give all runners the chance of doing their best time but enjoying it whilst they do so.

We had a fantastic event in 2023 where we introduced a whole range of new race day improvements for our runners and we received great feedback after the event, so we have brought them back again this year!  Some features for 2024 include:

  • Pacers to 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60mins - easily identifiable by carrying a flag with target time.
  • A piper at the most scenic part of the course as you approach Wallace Monument.
  • Stirling University Cheerleading Squad suppporting our runners at 1.5k and 8.5k.
  • Music on the course.
  • FREE pre and post race massage at the start/finish area.
  • All entrants will be given the option of a race tshirt, or if you would prefer, thanks to us working with Trees not Tees, we can plant a tree in your name with certification, location and picture emailed to you.
  • Ladies fit T-shirt option available
  • Race medals can be purchased for a small additional cost at sign up
  • Clock at half-way for 5k split time.
  • Goody bag to all finishers
  • Instructor-led warm up
  • Bouncy castles and face painting to keep kids entertained!

We are working with BDFA Batten Disease Family Association and 50p from each entry will be donated to this very worthwhile cause.

We have an extensive prize list with over £2000 worth of prizes.

Top 5 male and female finishers- £250, £150, £100, £50 and £25.

Course Record bonus - £250 (28:53 and 33:09).

Age group prizes. U20, V40, V50, V60 and V70.

First male and female teams.

Our 2k fun run is for ages 5 to 9 and will start at 9.20am. The fun run is an out and back and follows the 10k route to the 1k mark where runners turn and head back in to the finish.

New for 2023 was our 3.5k fun run for ages 10 to 14.  This also follows the 10k route to the 1km marker where runners will be directed straight on at the mini roundabout along Forthside Way to the next mini roundabout. Runners turn right for a short section then turn right again on to the river path which joins back on to the 1k to go marker and back to the finish line.

Adults are more than welcome to run with youngsters on the day, just no dipping at the finish line! There is no need for adults to sign up.

All finishers will receive a goody bag.

2k and 3.5k: £5

10k:   First 300 entries are £20 for SA members and £22 for non-members.

After the first 300 entries, entry fees are £23 for SA members and £25 for non-members.

Race numbers for the 10k will be posted to you in advance of race day. 2k and 3.5k numbers can be collected on the day from our information tent.

Entries are non-transferrable and non-refundable.

We have a Pregnancy and Postpartum policy in place. Anyone who falls pregnant after signing up, or anyone who has signed up and was hoping to be back competing postpartum but feel they are not quite ready, can transfer their entry until 2025.

As our run is on roads that are not fully closed ONLY BONE CONDUCTING HEADPHONES ARE PERMITTED.

It is not permitted to run in the event accompanied by a dog or pushing a buggy.

There is parking at both Forthbank Stadium and St Modan's High School and traffic marshals will be in attendance to direct you. These car parks are likely to fill up so once they are full parking can be found in Stirling Retail Park which is a short walk from the start. Traffic marshals will again direct to this area.

There are a number of electric charging points close by at Forthbank Stadium and at both Stirling Retail Park park and ride (800m from start/finish) and a large number at The Cinema just after the 1km mark

Runners are advised not to use Morrison’s supermarket car park and should not park on the clear way at The Peak.

Perfect chip timing will be in attendance and will post race results on their website www.perfecttiming   Post-run you can head to the Perfect Timing van to get a printout of your race time, and will also receive a free text message within seconds of crossing the line with your finishing time.

We look forward to welcoming you to our 2024 event!
